The rears were spinning as i have the type R with DCCD. It was in the 'open' position, that means 2/3rds of the power goes to the rear which can spin up the wheels.
I normally lock the diff for launching (not burnout) but forgot to on this occassion however even with monster wheelspin it was easy meat cuffing the Zen car Which if anyone didn't know, is my old car

Not sure Steven All I remember on both the burnout and the launch was a distant white car amongst the mist in my rear mirror

If you watch the in car video, I have the diff lock on the RH steering wheel button, for the launch proper my finger is firmly on the button right up to the point I dump the clutch..... then for some reason which even I don't understand, I let it go and at that point you can hear the car bouncing off the rpm limiter, presumably wheelspinning ?

Definately let go after you launched, and mid way through 1st. I recall seeing smoke after your warm up, but not after you proper launch.

My obvious mistake was to start 2 car lengths behind the start...

Well, the shell of it was at least Moray has what's left of the long engine, I've got the inlet manifold (suitably modified ie tidied up and filler removed ) and the gearbox isn't exactly as you had it

Mind you, I guess there's someone on here who can lay claim to you getting where you are with his old blue car

(PS you can have your spoon back now )
