Folks,
Just something to watch out for if you are on the Gisburn to Long Preston road....
At the Lancs / Yorks Border there is a "wheel wash" full of disinfectant. Basically a fooooking great trough cut into the road. Speed ramps before it are a nightmare. Ground my SS exhaust on it,even though I was being mega carefull.
I heard someone also "removed" their sump on the ramps as well. (Not a BBS person!)
Cheers
Mark.

Yes ' this is correct, there are numerous disinfecting areas on the run and I've been through them at least 20 times, all with no problems, I've got STI suspension, type R v4 front lip and a 5" backbox and not once did I catch them.
I have taken these into consideration when planning the route and as I have'nt experienced any probs this is why it's going ahead. These ramps are no bigger than the ones at your local asda, And since owning the car I've only once caught the exhaust on a speed ramp outside prestige go-karting in colne and they WERE big and the car had 5 people in...
be good...

I did the run last weekend and managed to bottom out on one of the bumps. Luckily with mid engine it was just the coolant pipe cover and not the exhaust
Craft - I took a superb road up there from Settle. Mail me with your intended route and I will have a look - I presume it will be the same one.

Love to if I can get up after flying home in the wee hours - ist time - at a Scooby gathering - not flying.
WARNING not all Scoobies (displaying unusual paint job and extra lights or not!!!) are friendly. Our Yorkshire Guardians of the road are having a clamp down at present round the A65 as too many Scooby/Biker/Evo friends can testify.

I know of an even better way from Gisburn to Settle - quiet road, no dawdlers or unwanted interest from our friends in blue.
Mail me for details. DW no doubt you know which one I mean. (Going up to the lakes in the MG's and a certain red van springs to mind!)

LOL I was thinking about that on the Sunday when you phoned about the BBQ last week. We ended up going up to the Dales for a spin and I was remembering back to the MG days.
Only one thing to say about that day:
1 Tannoy, 1 irate announcer and the immortal words <B>"Will the nutter in the red metro van please stop doing handbrake turns around the trees"</B> Oh, the good old days - cant believe I used to do stuff like that, but I was 17.
Dales - I agree on the road.
Craft - got your mail tonight and will reply tomorrow - defo a good route though
Cant wait (again) DW

Just to let you know...
From the BBC web site
"Four cases were confirmed in the Settle area over the weekend, bring the total to 15 in the region in just 10 days. "
My parents say its not particularly nice up in the Settle area right now with roads being closed as animals are being slaughtered near to roads.
It may all be over by the time of your jaunt ~ but just be aware that the smaller roads across the fells might be closed to traffic.

"Jesus" Mark, are you the bringer of doom & gloom too all and sundry!!
I've only just found out about the new cases.
To be honest it should'nt affect the run, well not that I can see anyway. We'll be doing the run this weekend so we'll take a butchers(so to speak ) I'm not squeamish
anyway as I used to work in a slaughter house
Anyway were only starting from settle, and not staying in or around it...
Keep you all informed...
be good..

saw you come to the end of the by-pass and I had an inclin it might be you so I held back
I thought you looked a bit bemused
but then again I was that chuffed I'd seen a fellow scoobynetter as I never see any scoobs etc to wave at except that ignorant t**t in the P1(not u darren), hell, the wife gets more scooby action than me..... mind you saying that there was a dark green UK behind me at McD's and he gave me the scooby wave, so basically your like buses... all come at once
Hope your lucky on the job front, speak to ya soon.

I didnt see you until the last minute so was trying to wave with my right hand, change gear with my left, and take the outside lane around that smaller car to get up the hill. Ended up fudging the wave and nearly hitting the car.
Due to small size of my motor you must not have seen my attempted wave. I would have flashed the lights but on the MR there is a 1 second delay whilst you wait for the lights to pop-up - haven't got used to it yet
Look out for Paulmon in the P1 around the M66 - ** WRC.
See ya, and I'll try and wave more next time.

Barry,
Pop over for a coffee this weekend if you fancy, today or tomorrow, You have my home number, we'll have a scooby debate in the garden with a drink or two !
jc@robbies, is that you John ? I'll be coming in to see you next week regarding now having my bumper painted rather than replaced (see Nick), will you be attending in car or opting to be a passenger ?

Hi there, we did the run again this weekend
and there are no problems with the F&M!!
So you'll be pleased to know it's still on
If anyone wants to meet up and shoot over together we're setting off from the valley around 10am, a good meeting point is the little chef at the roundabout off the A56 in baxenden. We've got a different route to gisburn, just down the M65 and pick up any peeps from Burnley/Blackpool??
Let us know....
See ya all soon.

Hi there Matt, no problem at all, you're on the list. As for directions, you're probably
better of meeting up with us at the little chef and then follwing onto settle. If thats
ok then go north on M6, get off at M65 junction(29-1/29) Blackburn/Burnley stay on M-way until J8 manchester/M66, you'll go up a steep hill and when coming to end of junction in right lane, on the right is little chef/Mcd's, go right round roundabout 3rd exit and pull into car park. We'll be there around 0945 and setting off 1000. If you want to make you're own way then... M6 north J31 A59 onto Gisburn(mini-roundabout) A682 up to settle, meeting point is in this post 1st section. Hope it all makes sense
See ya on the 3rd.

Hi Graham,
Don't know if you've seen my reply to you in the Was it you section, but can't make it. No, not washing my hair (LOL)
Got a wedding on the Saturday, south of Watford, so won't be sober enough to be back in time.
Next time though count me in.
Cheers
Rich

Craft/Matt, apparently the road from the mini rounabout at Gisburn was shut today due to F+M, don't know the situation for Sunday but perhaps it's best to avoid that road?
