My brothers car has the same plaque, the blue interior and centre console. it does not have dccd, red stiching, red manifold or roof vent. it was imported by prodrive to be used in rallying but subaru launched the bug eye. Ian Shipton bought all 13 cars that had been imported and sold them.

Ok, getting there.

The car which I will shortly own (God willing) is a ..............drum roll.

Version 5 WRX Type RA Limited.

Cosmetically - it has

Blue WRCT Seats
Black Interior
Leccy Window's (option)
AC (Option)

It is NOT an STI and therefor does not have

RED things, pink badges.

It is a V5, hence the black centre console.

Now then, I think I'm right in understanding that mechanically it has as an STI engine and gear ratios, save the 5th which is taller (LTD). Happy to be corrected.

All advice gratefully received.

It will not have the sti engine, as they have forged pistons and the wrx has cast pistons. The turbo will possibly be a vf29. Your are correct about the gear rations though, The 5th gear can be annoying, at 140mph on the speedo you will be at 7000rpm.

Yep I also have one of these 13 cars and does indeed have a vf29 turbo.

Thank you fellas. I think I'm there.

Mega, maga helpful

The car I may shortly own has a FMIC, New block, STI8 Crank, Steel conrods, Omega Pistons and a few other bits - the short block was built 1800 miles ago by Auto Sportif. I'm currently having a Welbro 255,new MAF and new lambda sensor fitted and having tested by my tuner.

The gearbox was rebuilt a few hundred miles ago - so I need to investigate whether the ratios were changed.

Any other tips / advice?

James

This was imported by Lee Jefferey (WRX - see Dealers For Sale) and is number 14/1000.
