As a P1 owner I am biased but I would say go for it, when I am walking around town or whatever or sat in a pub and a new age goes past/parks up no-one really looks but when I am out in the P1 people stop and stare and every time I fill up (sadly too often) I get people asking questions, think it's the two door effect.

Then again it maybe just the decat exhaust I have put on it and everyone looks thinking 'who's that to55er' but i like driving a limited edition, and yes they are holding there value, just be careful on the miles and previous owners as they have the history of going pop around 60k but that is due to miss use and lack of the right oil/optimax/letting it warm up/cool down, just like any car really.

Main point of your post was it is your dream car, if so go for it, I never wanted a scoob really but then saw the P1 and it became my dream car so the M3 went and as much as I love it I appreciate all scoob's now and my next car will be a scoob. If you don't get it you will regret it, I always wanted a Williams 1 Clio so went out and got one as the decat beast was getting a bit too heavy to live with every day, and it's great, once you have a gut feeling I say go for it.

Anyway that's enough of my emotional stuff, if you want any P1 advice drop me a message and will be happy to give it, i learnt the hard way!!!

Blow ups are due to the MAF and the fact Subaru skimped on the map and stuck with the STi5 100 ron map Criminal really.

That's a fair comment, the prodrive map was pretty poor, that's why i got mine into TSL after the blow for some proper work. the warranty gadgy, who didn't cover my car, put it down to the oil, i had only had her a month aswell!!!!!

Not sure whether it was a Subaru or Prodrive decision, think it was Subaru on cost IIRC - Ecutek wasnt available at the time and i guess they would have had to develop a fresh map for it, or just bung in the STi5 ECu and a broquet and prey

Bit worrying with all those unmapped P1's out there! I dont think its really a problem unless people have been decatting them etc...

You should probably get a p1 just to have one for a while keep it for 1 year six months if you don't like it it will still be easy to sell and if you don't get one now you might never have one.
