How do you know it wasn't a dual carriageway and therefore probably not any risk to other drivers?

Jeez lighten up peeps, the guys having a bit of fun!!!!
Some of you should be on the Fluffy Dice forum with the rest of the purple rinse coffin dodger brigade...

Can you honestly say that you have "never" done any manouvre like that....bet you can't...or may the Lord strike you down...LOL

I can't waste an e46 M3 in my 400+ BHP GTR so I seriously doubt you can waste one in a near standard RA.

M3's driven properly are seriously quick cars, they put all their power down instantly and are more than capable of keeping pace with all but the highest power of scoobs IMHO of course

Gary, it's very scary that a proportion of the contributors to this thread see nothing wrong in his action.

The overtaker puts himself in danger of a head-on collision by being on the opposite side of the road. If he has judged that it is safe to overtake after taking all hazards into account and that he has the time to do so, why would someone deliberately speed up to prevent it? If there was a queue of traffic behind, the next driver may take up the space left by the overtaker leaving him with absolutely nowhere to go. Why am I having to explain this to an adult, supposedly adequately trained to operate a vehicle safely in traffic and with 18 years experience? Am I alone in being completely incredulous as to the feckwittery being displayed on this thread?

I have to say I always look at the number of posts from a person when I see this kind of thread starting. I may be proved wrong but more often than not they come from people withvery low thread counts.
Maybe its the ''ive got a new car, look how fast I am'' syndrome?

Most of us drive quickly, its why we bought the car, but personally I dont feel the need to prove myself with every other car / driver who ventures near me.

OK..where does it say that he was on a single carriageway???
If he was on a dual carriageway then there would not have been any oncoming cars FFS...I don't know the road and neither do you, which is why i asked on a previous reply about the road, the A5 specifically. Is it dual or single carriageway at that location.

Why oh why are you giving the holier than thou spiel as if you have never carried out a manouvre that contravined a section of the highway code. I bet you cannot say that in all your driving you have NEVER broke any driving laws...not once...I look forward to your reply on that one

I bet your the kind of driver that has a "baby on board" sticker and drives like a tw*t.

The other day I was cruising along as usual in my BMW coming to one of my motorways, which was very busy with inferior cars.First off,I could not believe that the volume of of traffic didn’t slow down for me at all as I came off the slip road ! I had to squeeze into a small gap between two cars In order to get onto my motorway.(The driver of the car behind did realise his mistake though and gave me a long blast of his horn to apologise) Unbelievably I had to do the same again before I could get into the BMW lane.Anyway once I was in the BMW lane and posing along at 110 mph enjoying the adulation that the inferior car drivers were giving me .I noticed an inferior car not only in front of me but in the BMW lane but driving at a ridiculous 70mph.Naturally I got a foot or so off his rear bumper and flashed my head lights to remind him that he was in the BMW lane and to get out of my way .Of course once he realised it was a BMW behind him,he did just that but I could hardly believe it when he pulled straight back out behind me. He also tried to keep up with me and when he realised I would out run him , he put on some blue lights that were hidden in his grille and urged me to pull onto the hard shoulder so that he could congratulate me on my excellent car.Needless to say, I was eager to oblige and when we stopped the man gave me a piece of paper confirming what I already knew-that my car goes fast ! Apparently he wants every one to know what a superior car I have so I had to take my licence to a police station to have some points put on it .(they’re not free either they’re £20 each and I was only allowed 3) but the man at the police station said that because I drive a BMW ,it wont be much longer before I earn the full 12 points ,and then I wont even need a driving licence , so it would be taken off me ! See now that’s the sort of respect you get when you drive a BMW

That's simply outrageous!!

Everyone knows it is not a BMW lane, it is my Porsche lane

Not aiming this at the originator directly but it really annoys me when I'm going along a duel carriageway and pull out to overtake a car going 60-65 for example and as it's an Impreza they drop a gear and try to race you, basically you have 2 choices;

1) back off and boil or
2) accelerate to silly speed to get past knowing full well with my luck i've just been clocked at 90mph+ by local plod

Most of the time I dont want to race people, I know I dont drive a rocketship and I certainly dont go around up peoples ***** etc I can get much more enjoyment on good roads on my own

Sorry if I've doubleed up on someones post but TBH I could'nt raise the effort in trawling through yet another 'I beat an M3 slaying'

And what difference does that make? The BMW driver was trying to overtake legally and the Impreza driver was racing. He was being a tw@t end of story
I very rarely drive at the legal speed limit and enjoy making good progress on the right road as much as anyone, but I don't feel the need to bully other drivers doing it. And what does it prove anyway? That his tired old import with x previous owners is a better car and that he wouldn't swap it for a new M3?

in answer to some of the questions,no i"m not a young lad i"ve had the car a couple of years, yes it was on the dual carrage way of the A5 (towards magna park if any one knows it)yes it was a perfectly safe manouver and yes he did follow for five minutes with every chance in the world to overtake,as i was origanally minding my own it was fair play,it"s just a shame you get the preachers and"KNOW IT ALLS" who feel the need to have a dig.as i said,if you don"t like the thread, why bother answering to it? i"ll carry on driving like the older man that i am.

It doesn't. But he would have said something like "he pulled out into the overtaking lane to pass me", I reckon. You're playing devil's advocate on this question, fair enough, but the originator is suspiciously quiet on this.
Why oh why are you giving the holier than thou spiel as if you have never carried out a manouvre that contravined a section of the highway code. I bet you cannot say that in all your driving you have NEVER broke any driving laws...not once...I look forward to your reply on that one
I try to be a courteous driver. I haven't had a horn blown at me for YEARS.
I bet your the kind of driver that has a "baby on board" sticker and drives like a tw*t.
Highly uncalled for. I have a "Muppet on Board" sticker, thanks.

Sarcasm doesn't substitute for wit my friend. But thanks for sharing with us your TV favourites. Most enlightening. The roads are dangerous enough without pillocks deliberately trying to make them worse.

Was it actually an M Car?? You still not answered that one.

Everytime u get somescooby guy saying they beat an M3. Its like thier lives revolve around it. Why the anger to beat bmw. Its like me saying my car is quicker than an RS6 from 40 onwards because i beat someone in a race and it probably was a TDI.

Perhaps we should film your car against and m3/5 from 40 onwards then we can place it on the board and then people can stop posting the same message.

While we're on soap boxes, it's good to remind people there is no such thing as a slow lane... just one, two or three lanes all of which are exactly the same speed regardless of the time of day...

I sometimes wonder if the slow and fast lane mentality that we see on the motorways of this country manifests itselfs with some people on this board who seem to think that speed is everything (and I bet the're in the middle or outside lane on an empty motorway when doing it!).

No i did not mean it like that. What i am saying is that sometimes people are not going out full in their cars, it seems that all people go on about is beating an m3.

If you go on bmw3.co.uk, u dont see messages like i beat a scooby.

You need to drive both, my brother has a p1 and its completely different.

Especially in certain corners where the m5 would end up in someones front lounge.
