Is this the M-Power version of "in the twisties"? I'd have him from 40mph upwards

No wonder we are getting a seriously bad name ....

I agree with above, I have just come from a BMW to a Subaru and frankly this type of thing is a bit sad to say the least, you have no idea what BMW it was or if the driver of said car was even vaguely interested or trying, let alone the fact that you were racing someone on the public highway which is reckless in the first palce and really who cares

I sometimes wonder if the slow and fast lane mentality that we see on the motorways of this country manifests itselfs with some people on this board who seem to think that speed is everything (and I bet the're in the middle or outside lane on an empty motorway when doing it!).
The reason "we the people" refer to it as slow/fast lane is that you overtake in either lane two/three, hence you are going faster, hence slow/fast lane. Pretty easy to see where the saying comes from really. And no i do not sit planted in the middle for diddle lane. I'm too busy in the fast "porsche" lane

As far as lanes being of equal speed limits would you like to explain why an HGV is not allowed to drive in lane 3 under normal conditions..ie no obstructions in other lanes. Just while we're on our soap boxes that is

Cheers
Rick

if it"s "who cares" why read it and put your opinion in?secondly, why own a performance car and drive like a grandad all the time, most of the time i drive "normal" how many can say that they haven"t floored it,they just use it for the asda run i suppose? in my opinion on an empty dual carrageway with some prat up my backside for lastmile or so,when he could have overtaken,is not reckless driving,i didn"t buy a subaru to drive like a boy racer,i"m an oldish guy,i take it nobody else "ever"puts their foot down occassionally, appoligies if i"ve offended/upset anyone by the way

Why would they want to?

If the third lane was opened to them, they'd do what they do on 'A' roads and you'd end up with a line of three artics trying to overtake each other at a rate of 1cm/yr.

Because I do not like idiots racing on the public highways, and also this kind of post is giving Scoobynet a bad name, I have heard rumours of lots of people leaving due to this chav/boy racer element ( I do not mean that this aspect relates to you in any way). TBH it just winds me up these kind of 'I beat this and that threads'...

Also I buy performance cars for many reasons but one of them is not racing other people, I had a BMW (118d) up my backside yesterday on the A3 heading into London so what did I do....? I pulled over and let him go ahead. When I want to have some fast car fun I generally like to go early in the morning (preferably Sunday) and find a good B road...etc

I agree with your point of buying a performance car and then driving like a grandad but I bought my Impreza because I can put the family in it cruise up to, for example, Wales, in relative comfort drop wifey and kids off and find the nearest Welsh b road for a good blast, and as you say most of the time you drive normally, as do I. I cannot lie and say I have never raced someone before but now that I am a bit older (not wiser) I always let numpties get on with it.

Were it really that easy that it were just that - but how about 'overtaking lane' - which means the same thing, and generally means you pull back into the inside lane if clear, which most people don't. Or perhaps you feel it should be called the slow, fast and faster lanes then? It just bugs me as the majority of people in the UK sit in the middle lane when there is no need, yet bitch and moan about traffic jams. This is why, when the M25 is 5 lanes wide, the outside 3 seem the only ones used. It's just a term that seems to manifest bad driving.

As for the HGV's, as Bubba Po said - why? If the inside lane is clear of obstructions, why do they need to be there? They should be on the inside lane, along with all the cars. But that's too easy....

Are you implying someone has something personal against you?

This whole thread blew up because myself and others mistakenly thought you had done a very dangerous thing.

I'll go and bollock him to redress the balance, If you like.
