I'm moving to St. Andrews in Jan, so not too far away.
Incidentally, whats Dundee like for a night out?

Agree with the "staying outside the city" comments, I chose Forfar, 15 mins from Dundee on dual carrigeway. Arbroath is not the best of towns, but the road to Dundee is currently being upgraded & should be open soon so will aid travel.
Fife could be a good choice providing you dont mind paying bridge tolls every day & the traffic congestion every night.

The reason they put a toll bridge at either end of fife was to stop people on the way in and try to convince them not to go there, lol

Rory, Currently got a blue swb Shogun, used for towing the track car. Sold the Scoob earlier this year to get a dedicated track vehicle
