LOL, i'd obviously have an STi over other models, but a Sport with a monster engine would be hilarious.
Sports are okay anyway, no turbo's to blow up... that would be my main concern, I dont think I could afford to drive a Scooby like i'd want to lol

The Ultimate sleeper!

Well, I still wave @ N/A Impreza's and Foresters (i have to be honest never seen a Justy on the road), Most of them look at me like i'm taking the pis* but i'm just being friendly. It's not like my Turbo is an Enzo or anything, impreza's are 'cheap' performance cars so why anyone should look down at a sport is beyond me.

I would never, ever get a sport! 'Running costs cheaper'! you must be joking for what you get in return!? Lets compare;

FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK 2.0 Zetec 3dr
£14500.00
0-60 mph;9.2
BHP; 145
Insurance group; 9
Combined (mpg) 39.8

SUBARU IMPREZA SALOON 2.0 GX Sport AWD 4dr
£15600.00
0-60 mph 10.2
BHP; 125
insurance group; 13
Combined (mpg) 32.8

Where exactly is the benefit? I know it's only a focus, but damn!

When I was buying, went to look at a P reg sport that had a Turbo bonnet and large spolier added to it - salesman was quick to point out it wasnt a turbo, just a lookalike - he said its what car dealers refer to as a 'limp dick'

The only people I think who would buy a Sport out of choice are youngsters who want the look, but cant afford the insurance on a Turbo - lets face it, the Sport is about as good as an Escort or similar, but I bet an 18 year old in a Turbo lookalike pulls more girls !

Yes we are mate, we have our own forum imprezasport.net

Ok the N/A scoobs aint quick in a straight line, but they are able to hold our own through the twisties.

As a thought, why don't you add up all the parts common between the 2 models, you'll be suprised just how many common parts there are.

Sorry, don't think of sports when I refer to scoobies. Definately has to have a turbo.

Just my opinion though!

God you lot keep going on and on about this **** and its getting boring.
At the end of the day they are both subaru impreza's. They can look very much the same but the turbo with more power hence the 'TURBO'.
I who a few people who have got an impreza sport and have dropped a turbo engine in them for more proformance.
Stop slagging others that don't have what you have got. Both cars with the right owners take pride in them keeping them clean and well maintained.
Insurance is the biggest reason people go non turbo, as well as price.
Basically the same reason we aren't all driving Porche or TVR ect. But we still love our cars

i have a turbo....i had the sport before...

which i now wish i had kept as i loved it and it was much nicer to drive around town..

i also dont post on here much due to the full on snobbery that some of scoobynets members seem to be osessive about...this kind of thread is gettin old and boring...

you drive what you want, u cobble onto it whatever you want, be it pink fluffly bunny rabbits from the roof aerial...who cares....if the person behind the wheel is happy...thats all that matters isnt it?

i've always said an sti/wrx etc should be bought....made to look the full on dogs cherubs....posted up on here....then after 3 pages of "thats nice"...

crack the bonnet open to find a diesel doing 50 to the gallon...

who cares what ya drive...

get a grip guys....some poor ******* cant even a afford a car due to circumstances
be thankful your circumstances are better and you have the oppurtunity to drive what you do...be it gl, sport, turbo, evo, porsche, tvr, fiesta, clio, etc etc..

regards chris

Of couse it is still a scooby. the name scooby derives from the scooby doo SU-BA-RU sound a like..hence all subarus are scoobys. my god thats on page one of the bible for heavens sake

if someone drove a sport..i used to wave...why not? so they don't have a car that can do 60 in 5 seconds. my god i even waved at legacy owners lol.

it's all about keeping the community spirit alive. i have had sti ppp 05 reg owners drive past me and look down their nose as my my94..and it just made me laugh. because they wouldn't have the car they drove today if it handn't have been for the older models and their rally winning ways. the impreza would have died off..or become a bland fat americanised cruiser..instead of the fab car it is now.

todays sport owner is tomorrows potential sti buyer/owner. so i have just as much respect for them as i do someone with a 500 bhp monster.

Sounds like the sales guy had a case of el compensatium.

I personally will not buy a WRX or STi, even though I enjoy driving them.
I ENJOY the linear delivery that the NA engines give me, and I'm not a youngster, nor some power-hungry-must-have-big turbo driver.

I have been a PROUD owner of 3 normally aspirated Subarus, none of which I call "Scoobs". I call them Subaru Imprezas and Subaru Legacy.

This snobbery that is displayed by SN members is childish and designed purely to make yourselves feel better about buying a WRX or an STi. Instead of creating animosity, why not just go out there and enjoy what you have, instead of trying to degrade others for what they want, and chose to afford?

Nice post Scooby555Chris &noobscoob

I own a sport and have done now for 2 years and it has been a great car. Ok it lacks a bit of power due to not having a turbo but who gives a **** if its only a nice car you want to drive. And like Mrfuzzyfelts said in the first post, I also own a std 1.6 v-tec Civic and they go just as well as my scoob but is that really a valid reason to come on here a have a pop at the sport?.

I think its quite funny really when some of you slag of the sports on forums but when ever we are at show nobody says **** all.

See you all at Alton

i agree with you m8.we own a my01 impreza gx,and we love it.

the one thing that gets up my nose is when people see our car the first thing they say is it needs lowering, well i tell them are you going to put your hand in your pocket to pay for it.they answer no ,so nor im i .so shut up then.

we belong to a club with over 50 members in it and not one of them gives a damn that it isnt a AMAZING CANT LIVE WITHOUT A TURBO.well at the end of the day if people dont like it well thats there choice .so when its raining and they see us and want a lift .well tough .

I had a Sport and would say it was great, not the same power as a Turbo, but it had 17s and Eibachs fitted, it would also give a Turbo a run for its money in the twisties, FACT.

I own a sport too. Its standard, and not an extension of my *****. I like reading this forum it really makes me laugh some times, with stuck up t***s like you lot who cant drive your car so whine about others on the forum. Tell you wat whoever you are go drive your car and be proud of wat you own.NO ONE ELSE ACTUALLY CARES WAT YOU THINK.

GX Sport
Classic Turbo

This has been such an issue for a long time. and after the first arguement about sport ownership, it tend s to get a tad boring after the first time round. A sport is the same shape as a turbo, the same look as a turbo, granted not the speed of a turbo, and not the running cost of a turbo. some may say it is better to run than a turbo. and i agree to this. cheaper fuel & insurance.

Why can't this Subaru Turbo Snobbery stop.? if people want to drive sport, so be it, if people want to drive a turbo., so be it also. Sport owners don't judge turbo owners, so why should you judge sport owners.?? If the makers of the subaru sport didn't want it to share the same name as it's bigger brother they would of called it something else......
I now drive an american car, and miss my scooby, sorry my scooby sport so much., that i wish to god now that i hadn't of sold it. and given the choice, i would have another sport.

end of subject.......... surely!

Actually - that's already been done.

(I think).

H6 powered rally car.

And in NZ there is a GC8 with a twin turbo H6 configuration, also set up for rallying.

Indeed i enjoy my scooby sport, i love it. Why are there not more owners on here defending them? simple we have to do it once every 2 months and are fed up with defending our "choice" of cars from remarks by over opinionated forum jockeys. Every scooby own i have met in real life has had something posative to say about the sport, last meet i went to i was speaking to a great bloke with a 280bhp classic and when i pointed out my car and I said "its nice but its only a sport" his response was "hey dont be to harsh on the sport one of the guys in our club had one and he was always able to keep up with us on the twisties"

This will be my one and only contribution to this POINTLESS thread.
