Sorry Mate, I'm a bit annoyed at a few of your points here.

I don't think you've thought them out before posting.

I'll probably get hung here, but WTF.
1.Granted.
2.You have three pedals, two eyes and two ears. Mostly. What is your problem?
3. You are driving dangerously.
4. Buy an Audi A4
5. As per point 3.
6. Don't take passengers, or just buy Third Party and take out a good life insurance policy.

1000 mile service next week and then let's see how long I can keep a clean driving licence!!

Congratulations . . I could not wait to run in the engine at 1000 . . The first 1000 miles are the most painful . .Picked mine up abt 3 July . .Enjoy it!

The unwanted attention is often in your own head. It gives you the chance to nail your car showing them what it will do. More often than not they arent even trying, they are merly sat behind you.

You said it yourself .....'' how do you restrain yourselve from hammering your sub everywhere'' nuff said me thinks

It takes a while to realise that the car you own isnt the fastest thing on the planet, that kick in the back is something to get used to, but the first time you cant outdrag a TDi A4 on the motorway you start to calm down a bit.

Are you serious about the TDi A4 . . The truth is that now, after owning it for over a month , hammering it is not so interesting . . Not enough opposition . .But point taken. . Guess it takes two to tango!

I get people coming right up on my back bumper then and then thrash past. Get it more than I did in my Mondeo estate!

I have a 00 wagon classic. It's totally standard and I am happy with that.

A very good car!!

just because you have a fast car does not mean that people should have to "politely move out of your way" as you put it
use it in the right places

welcome to scoobyland

we are in a different world from everyone.

we are loved and hated from different people
when i first bought mine,
i had lots of people AND i mean lots of people wanting to race me in the first week
i had a first wave which i thought AY?

you will be hated
(this are a handful of things that happened to me check which ones had happened to you)
at night passer bys will spit at your car
people will nick stuff ie, air caps, and wheel centre caps/
people will call you "CHAV"
people would race you, from a fiesta with 5 cap wearing imbeciles, to a GT3
police will follow you for miles,

people who like you

when you go to a garage (non-scoob) they will compliment your car,
you will a lot of people STARE at you,
you have chavs taking photos when you're waiting at traffic lights.
you will have kids wanting to have a ride
you have kids waving at you when you pass by,.
you will have odd girls scream at you with big grins (happened in HULL once very funny)
someone will soon moon at you
older people at shops will compliment your car
people at chippys will come out to look at your car

there will be loads more of hates, but those are the things that actually happened to me

btw enjoy the car,

Spot on there matey, them diesels keep on springing their surprises.

On my way to work this morning going from M62 to M606 slip road and was behind a Volvo S40 diesel. He had to brake slightly to go round the bend. As I had closed on him fairly quickly due to not having to break to get round the bend at 70 I expected he would pull over as there was nothing in the other lane so had my foot on the loud pedal coming out of the bend about 40 yards behind him.

I was honestly shocked that I couldnt close on him coming out of the bend between 40-80 in third, and he must have eased off then. I'm sure it would have had much more grunt top end to polish me off.

When I was going past, I noticved it said D5 on the back - is this a diesel version of the T5?

Gary,

Since 80mph is 10 mph above the Motorway speed limit, surely the race will be over by then and you'll have won!

Are you generating some sly publicity for the TSL 333bhp package per chance? i.e. you need it to loose the rep mobiles!

Since you have such a nice motor, of which i am not at all envious , have you got a tracker on it?
talking of people moving out the way, when on quick roads, some people nicely move over to the gutter and put the indicator on. nice peoples.

Unbelievable . . .Not being funny, But what car spec Subey were you driving . ..And what on Earth could a crappy Volvo have under the bonnet to challenge the supremacy of the Blue rocket????.

the D5 is a 5 cyl and pushes out about 170bhp me thinks.

I had a chipped 330d a few months back which pushed out about 221bhp about the same a standard WRX.

I did manage to scalp a couple of WRX (standard I assume) at motorway speeds ie 80+.

The problem is, if a car with torque catches you napping and in the wrong gear, it will pull so much space between it and yourself before you drop down that you will have the impression that it has cained you.

On the way home today, a Golf TDI 150 wanted to show me how quick he was, every time traffic pulled over he booted it and I will admit that with me in 5th, it would have been hard to keep up, however, if I have had dropped down a couple of cogs I would have left him. As it was I let proceed (nothing to prove)

I suppose living in London as soon as you drive in the West end , its almost inevitable people will get aggressive!

And one more thing . .I need some advice . .How do you restrain yrself from hammering yr Subey averywhere . .Every time the tach reaches 3000 rpm, it's like the car is saying to me "Let's go faster - you know we can do it" . .By buying a Subaru, have I actually joined a cult of some sort?

I find the same. People either fall off the road getting out of the way or get arsey and uptight.

M'way Tip: If some complete tw@ won't get out of the way 'cos they feel threatened, don't tailgate. Pull over and let the Vectra/Mondeo behind barge them out out the way. Then sail through afterwards.
