Weight Training - Protein Supplements

why lose a huge chunk of your gains, why? theres is no reason unless you screwed yourself with huge doses to start with.
not so, receptors can start to degrade in as little as a week, continuing with larger doses only clog the receptors even more
arnold was 235 at what 5'11 in contest condition with 3-5% bodyfat or less. off-season he went up to 260. bear in mind the difference between bodybuilders like arnold (nicely proportioned good upper body, but lets face it no legs) vs. 300lb+ freak guys like dorian yates, ronnie coleman and jay cutler.
i was using 260 as an example. pick any ambitious number. if you want to get big/ripped, you need to stay on... there are no two ways about that. all of the pros stay on year-round (they must have the same weird receptors as me that don't degrade), and pretty much every top amateur, certainly in the US, will stay on permanently too (or take one single 2 month break each year).
i actually weigh a chunk more than 260, but i am a powerlifter, not a bodybuilder, and i am just over 6'3. thats not to say i couldn't cut up and compete successfully at regional level bodybuilding competitions, as many powerlifters do when they're done with wreaking havoc on their joints but my goals are primarily strength.
at the end of the day tho, everyone does what they think is best. hopefully read all the info and decide for themselves. if you're happy with short small cycles, and are willing to take the risks for the (probably comparatively) small gains that you're getting, that's great for you. but for me, if you're willing to use steroids at all, then you're prepared to put your body at huge risk for strength/mass/(whatever goal).... in which case, you should just do it right and get the job done

blimey - just checked back on this thread since i created it last week. What have i started lol!
Anyway got my Instant Whey through. Massive Tub! Bit confused how much to take though. It says 25g with 400ml of water/milk 2-3 times a day. I'm going to take it twice a day to start with. How much is 25g? A table spoon / tea spoon??
Thanks
Chump

1. Get some scales and weigh it - do you have a kitchen? if you do you shuld have scales anyway!
2. The package always seems to suggest that you are either in need of pro BB levels of protein or dont know what chicken is. Assuming you get a good protein source with each meal then you will prob find you only need the shake to fill in the gaps (for me thats breakfast if i have oats and no time for cooking eggs) You need to work out you protein needs, work out your protein intake from food and look at the gap - if you need 3 shales a day i would say you are either huge or not eating enough.

cheese butter and milk are hardly the greatest sources of protein for muscle building!
you need to take a walk round a supermarket not a supplement. have you tried all sorts of fish? there must be something you would like???

Nope, no other changes. Maybe training harder i suppose! Chiefy, haven't noticed that one to be honest. Poos are a bit "unpredictable" though! That's too much information isn't it?

good lifts super si, are you now the strongest on scoobynet?
personally i use whey protein, lean meats to try and eat around 200g of protein per day.
re receptor down-regulation, i've read fully referenced academic papers stating that receptors are uprated in response to exogenous anabolic steroid use.
