lol

i was expecting a holed piston as we all know these crappy wrx's won't go above 300bhp

so whats the plan....

most go for a rebuild with new forged pistons \ rods. I know i can't go much further with mine but I don't think i would risk running a custom pipe work style garret such as a gt30r ( what i feel is my next step )on a standard STI setup where with new internals i could

i do like the idea of new heads but what made you go version 8, do you \ your tunner like the avcs?

i might be very wrong, but i bet you got it allot cheaper than what i could of

I love AVCS. Helps a lot with spool. Ver8 has the better heads and my engine already has forged pistons installed. I am not looking for big power, maybe 300-330 at the wheels. Though the new Helix GT30R/GT35R kits looks nice.

cleaned up pic:

Well just another update.
I packed up the WRX with everything I could think of. I even brought along an extra set of NGK R spark plugs.
Fired up the car and it ran much better than I thought. I cruised all the way w/o going over 3k RPM. I have to admit, it ran much better than expected. I arrived to Tracktive Solutions and I only got lost once (for England, thats awsome!). They pulled my car around and I immediately started installing the Hyperflow CAI and I changed my oil. To my surprise it didn't even smell like fuel. Richard hooked up his gadgets and went out to tune. 30 seconds later he is back with P1306. CRAP!!! We spent the next 3 hours trying to figure out the problem. He swapped in another Spec C ECU (from his personal car) and the code cleared. We reinstalled my ECU and the code came back after a minute. Just by chance I wiggled the ECU wiring while he was looking at the OVC voltage (via delta dash) and the MA jumped by 500. We played with the wiring at the small connector and it seemed to fix it.
Over the next 3 hours Richard mapped while my friend Ryan and I went into town. Shortly after we returned Richard was finished. I have to say I am a bit disappointed the car was only road mapped so I have no idea at the HP/torque figures. Initial drive of the car scared the hell out of me! WOW this thing pulls hard! Its mapped to 1.45 bar and the rev limit is set to a very conservative 7,800 RPM. I get 1.45bar by 3,800 RPM. The car was also mapped using the SMC kit but only with water injection. Richard said he wouldn't map it with alcy unless I had a fail-safe fitted. Oh well. At least he agreed to use it for water injection. Richard was very pleased with my set up and how responsive it is. All seemed well.
We settled up on the bill and they were very gracious considering the time we spent trouble shooting the AVCS.
We packed up and headed home. 15min down the road I pulled p1306 again! D'oh!!!! Also on the way home I discovered I still have the 120mph speed limiter! Grrrrr! I have to call Tracktive and find out if they can remove it with the ECUTEK software. On a side note, they said ECUTEK didn't have a user-tune ROM file for my ECU.
Once we got home I pulled the ECU and started checking the wiring again. I found that the top left wire on the smallest connector was loose. There was the problem. I repaired it and I haven't had a CEL in 300 miles.
Now I just need to book a date to get the car dyno'd.

Very nice spec and good vids/pics.

AND you've still got your 'take anywhere' ironing board for when you crease your shirts.

Nice car.

Just an update:
I added a few Whiteline bushings to the suspension. The TIC rear diff bushings are awsome! The diff no longer bangs around under hard shifting. They do add quite a bit of noise though. I hear a distinct whine from the diff now. So much I had to check the fluid level!!!! I am getting used to it now. I get so much noise from the aluminum flywheel, group N engine/trans mounts and 6 speed, it just blends in now!
The WRX is a beast. I am so happy with it I have called it finished. I'll be at the Pod on the 15th so get some 1/4 runs in and its going to hit the rollers on the 29th to see what kind of power its making.

I'll update then.

Steven

Thanks guys! No need for the SR40 (killer turbo BTW), I am really happy with the TD05 20g..... for now. GT30r rotated mount may be in the future someday!

Tracktive could not remove the speed limiter with ECUTEK. It could only be set to a max of 160mph. He said the UK Ver8 ecu can be set for errr 310kph?
I have put about 800 miles on the car since the swap... still no CEL's!
