The options above are for 5 speed; we do a 6 speed type, but more money than these I am afraid. l'll have to check, but I think 6 speed type is £320.00 for 5 at a time. Probably not 5 out there I suspect.

Tough luck mate !! we'd a' been real happy to do that and provide a free Lamborghini Galliardo courtesy car whilst we did the job.

Some days things just don't work out.

Cos if you told me Knowlesy's gang fitted it, then you'd have to loan me a Galliardo...........

The light flywheel takes weight off the rotating mass of he engine making it easier to turn over. therefore it spins up quicker which is a good performance gain - at very little cost. Marry it up to a set of ported and polished exhaust headers [ manifold ] and it will really feel different.

Good Luck David APi

Chris, We can do it ' while you wait' in essence it takes 4 and a bit hours, so we'd normally lend your our wagon to go shopping in Leamington Spa or we can drop you off somewhere, or you can sit and read our magazine pile while we ply you with coffee.

Cost of fitting is £200 plus VAT

Good Luck, have a good Xmas call me if I can help

David

Sounds a good deal and may well be needing a new clutch soon ( would probably want the clutch / lightened flywheel / fitting ).
Just wondered if you are open on a Saturday to do the fitting ?

Hiya !! We can do that on a Saturday, we need to get started at around 8.00am as we like to try and go home about 12.30. Bearing in mind the fact that the car will be red hot when it arrives we need a while to let it cool before we can get near it.

Let me know when and so-on and we can get you booked in.

Good Luck have a good Xmas David

It's not my job to defend API prices, but I feel I'm perfectly entitled to contribute my opinion:

That's a perfectly reasonable quote for a job that takes around 4 hours e.g. £50 Per hour labour. It's significantly less than what you'd pay at a dealer, I can tell you that much! Someone on here posted recently to say he'd paid over £800 from a stealer for a STANDARD clutch and labour AND it still juddered!!

As with anything, some independents will charge less/more for certain jobs than others. If you think API's quote is steep you can always buy the clutch in the GB -which is a bloomin bargin- and have it fitted elsewhere. David has not tied the GB price to fitting at API.

I bought the full kit and the flywheel on one of the previous group buys. The clutch is great, pedal is very light compared to how it was before with standard clutch, the bite is progressive and the flywheel makes a real difference to the responsiveness of the engine particularly from low revs.

£200 +vat is a fair price, it cost me more to have it fitted to an sti4.

You can have the exact clutch and flywheel I bought for free if you buy my car from the for sale section, and there are no fitting charges because I already paid them. Then I might even splash out on one for my new car.

I'd be VERY impressed if one person could do it in less than 2 hours. Looks like a bitch of a job to me! Mine took the best part of two hours with two VERY experienced specialists working on the car, and they weren't hanging around either; I could see them through a window.

Thanks for your comments and support NS.

We don't rush the job and it does take us over 4 hours to do properly. We charge £35.00 per hour and we include a free diagnostic check whenever a car comes to us plus a gearbox oil change and as much free coffee and so on that you can drink whilst you are here.

We are happy to run you down to the shops or loan you a car for a few hours to get to and from the shops of your choice, while you wait.

Sure, you can get it done cheaper by the moonlighting bloke from ******** Subaru garage. But he doesn't have any overheads or warranty to support and when it all goes wrong, he'll come out and do it again for another 30 quid. That's your risk.

We are professional and are happy to discuss with our customers when they call back in 2 weeks time, about a wiper blade failure that wasn't like that when we did the clutch........

If you don't like our fitting quote you are perfectly able to order one of the best and cheapest performance clutches in the country and fit it yourself. there is no obligation within this GB to have the work done here. The warranty on the clutch is not affected no matter who fits it. Assuming it's fitted correctly.

Got my clutch and flywheel.

They look good, but I have just come back to Brazil, so won´t get chance to get them fitted until February.

I have lined up a man with a lift and the necessary skills and experience to assist/do the job, so as soon as it´s done I can get my EBC turned back up and accelerate as Subaru intended!!!!

I´ll get the flywheel back to you ASAP after the job is done David.

Cheers

I don't mean to be blunt, but if your not buying a clutch on this group keep your negitive comments to yourself.

We all know some garages charge more than others, but then some of us don't mind paying a little extra to have the aftersales support and like to be looked after when work is being carried out.

API are a great bunch of lads, very friendly. They don't mind talking you through whats happening with your car, you can stand and watch them if you like. Theres free coffee and use of a loan car. Free bacon rolls (on saturday).

They steam cleaned my engine, added extra samco's, heat wrapped my down pipe and FMIC pipes for free last time I was in there. Most other garages would not of done this or would of charged if they had.

If you've never been to API don't knock there service.

Hiya!

We have them in cars making 400 plus a bit - no problems either 2.0 or the 2.5 [ greater torque ]

We are close to junction 12 of the M40 in a village called Harbury [ CV33 9PL ] for the web street finder systems.

About 2 weeks lead time for fitting should do it - we can do it ' while you wait ' it takes about 4 and a bit hours if the turbo to downpipe bolts cooperate. It is a good job to do on a Saturday morning assuming you are close enough to be here for 0800.

If you are some way away then we can do mail order.

The flywheel will need attention, even if it only a skim to straighten it out after years of use. The light flywheel [ our way ] has no downside at 7 kg's which is the homologated weight for competition. The Fidanza alloy ones are too light at 4 Kg's IN MY OPINION. he adds quickly.

Give me call if we can help you.

Good luck David APi

The flywheel was changed around 9 months ago with the other clutch, but i think i may as well have the lightened one anyway.

As per our conversation earlier i will sort out a date tonight and email you in the morning.
