If you measure around your head (going just above the ears), what diameter are you? I'm 25" inches (oo-er misses)! I was looking for decent sized sun hat (neck protection etc) for walking and holidays. I ended up having to get a Tilley on special order from a local outdoor shop. The biggest size they do (8+) fits me nicely but cost £45
I've got my own crash helmet for carting and the like.

I've only ever come across 1 hat in a shop that fitted - XXL Drizabone.

I'd like to add belts to the trouser rant.
Over the last few years I've gone from a 32" to 34" to 36" waist (and one pair of 38" trousers which proves that sizes are crap). Now I've lost a little weight and some of my jeans and trousers hang off me a bit but they're still newish so obviously I need a belt to keep them up properly but most of my belts are old and size 34 so will only fasten on the last notch and only if I breathe in. so I ask the Mrs to get me a 38" belt (hopefully so there's a bit of slack). Gets home, puts it on and...it'll only fasten on the last notch and damn near cuts me in half! Grrr.
