I have to fly to Glasgow on BA soon, I hope they get it sorted soon as I cannot imagine a 45 minute flight without a permafrosted Cheese and Ham Crossiant. Actually may have a word with BA, at least for the economy meals, nip to Aldi or better still I havent cleared the dog turds off the lawn for a day or two, that should rate a similar passenger satisfaction level to the normal meal, a big dog turd on a plate, mmm airline food, at least in first class its almost like food.

BA originally sold their catering arm to Swissair, Swissair subsequently went bust and the catering arm was sold to some american company. So the link from BA to GG is now quite long.

The problems with GG are not only down to BA. I think you will find that GG used to cater for Virgin as well. They lost the Virgin contract, and therefore need to lose the staff who were making the Virgin food.

The reason BA can't walk away from GG is that apparently no one else has the ability to provide the number of meals that BA require at short notice. Which when you consider the numbers is not suprising!

yes and no....

GG go bust no food true....

xx owners inc, buy defunct GG and hey presto workers and food supplyied to BA

methinks theres more to this than meets the eye!!

ba have really gone crap on food recently

i used to fly to valencia frequently, i always opted for an iberia flight, as it was always a hot meal, and inflight music/ tv

on the odd occasion i flew with ba it was hot food but no inflight entertainment...

then lo and behold iberia and ba do a codeshare no hot food and no inflight

cheese bloody roll anyone!!

and its ok saying oh you only get cold food on the short hauls due to the duration....

what if you do several hops in one day....

heathrow to frankfurt (short hop) frankfurt to graz (short hop) combined travelling time 8 hrs... thats long haul territory and all we got was two cold bloody veggy rolls... given that some of the tickets were in excess of £400 i would have thought hot food was the least they could do!!

Hello

I flew to Atlanta with Delta, the food was free, drinks were not. I flew from Atlanta to Las Vegas with American, neither were free and from from Atlanta to Toronto with United where a soft drink was free, food was paid for.

Delta is just awful in general though, when I flew to Atlanta they didn't have "in seat" entertainment, just a big screen every 20 seats. I hadn't seen that in 10 years on a long haul flight!

Cant see there is any party that is "innocent". In my mind most blame can be laid at the Union within GG that organised the illegal strike, followd by the union hierarchy, BA and then GG management.

BA - If you outsource something so vital to a single supplier you need to make sure you give them a profit margin. If you want to run it at cost - keep it in house.

GG - Dont accept a deal you cant make money on. Dont accept a deal you cant make money especially when you're riddled with 1970s throwbacks.

GG Workers. FFS - you're dont have a job for life. You dont work for the civil service. If GG goes under...so do you. Its 2005 not 1975 wake up and smell the coffee. Airline industry is more competitive than ever. You may see grounded BA jets as "a victory" - everyone else just sees an reason not fly BA. If they dont fly BA they dont meals made by you.

Union - get a grip. If you actually said "ahh illegal strike yes we dont condone that. We accept those that organised it must go. but theres' 595 innocents that were led astray...and GG need them to run the business, how about we let them back ?" You'd see your support across the country rise form the level of "zero" its now at.
