I've lost two mobiles to water damage. First one at the beach when it fell into a rock pool and it was instantly fubar'd. Second was whilst mooring my jet boat in the Jersey yacht marina. My son got ashore and placed all our stuff on the pontoon then he pulled his coat out from the bottom of the pile and my new phone fell in and sank to the bottom. For the next week my mates left gurgling messages to/from fish on my voicemail.
A couple of months later on telly there was a documentary about sea horses in the Jersey marina especially in the shallow end where my berth was. As the camera showed the sea horses swimming round on the sand, there in the background was my bloody mobile!
The wife decided to get a waterproof/dustproof phone. The brochure said you could do everysort of outdoor adventure and the phone would survive. He proudly told the chap in the phone shop she wanted the "active lifestyle phone". Without even looking up he said, much to her disappointment "Oh you mean the builders phone"

Ok, thanks for the help ..... lets get a couple of things straight ...
1. It was saltwater ........
2. I said I would leave unless there was a huge majority who wanted me to stay - that majority has spoken and I grace the BBS once more .............
I'm going to squirt it full of PCB Cleaner this afternoon and dry it in the airing cupboard
Anyone know of any PAYG Orange Mobiles for £19:95?? I remember seeing some - but can't find any now!!
I don't want a camera or anything fancy ..... £10 credit lasts me 12 months!!

I had an old nokia 3210 that I ended up dropping in water wile I was fishing. It wouldn’t switch on or anything. I tried leaving it over night wrapped in a towel on a radiator, but the next morning it still didn’t work.
Next day my dad sprayed it with pen guard (similar stuff to wd40 I think) I don’t know the exact logic of doing this but was something along the lines of the oil displacing the water. I then left it overnight wrapped in a towel again and the next day it worked fine.
It worked fine for another 11 months until some ****** stole it
Not sure if thats any use to you, or if PCB cleaner is the same stuff. But it may be worth you giving it a go as a last resort.
