OK Tel, I'll retract that slightly and say it all tasted bland ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
I'm prepared to give it a try again just for you, but I've definitely given up on my local Tesco/Morrisions/Asda stores.

The cherries this year were fantastic. And the strawberries were excellent too, until the English ones ran out and they started stocking the jumbo American imposters. Like all good food, you have to buy it in season, otherwise it can be a crushing disappointment.

There was once the corner shop, then came the high street supermarket, then came the out of town store. IMO LIDL and ALDI are more like the Liptons and Gateways of yesteryear. Plonked somewhere within reach of town centres, moderate sized stores selling tins and bog rolls.
The only ones I've visited have been on the continent (Belgium, typically) but I can't say I've seen any chavs, neds or pikeys hanging around... but I was shopping for beers, not food.
Freixenet is Cava. It's made in Catalonia. It's a fizzy wine/champagne type of drink and is actually bl**dy nice. It's also cheap if you don't buy it in Tesco, Waitrose or Sainsbury on the run up to Christmas, New Year.

I dont buy from our farmers. Simply because I cant be arsed. I go for convienience of shopping in Tescos or Sainsbury.
PLUS
I happen to believe that the 2 stores above dont get ridiculous subsidies from the Government. And dont picket places saying "Buy British" before they check the time on a Swiss watch, wear Italian Jeans, get back into their Japanese Car filled with Red Diesel. And drive back into the countryside where they slate people like me as "townies who dont understand what it is to be patriotic"
Maybe Im missing something?

hey there's nothing wrong with hinari. my iron packed up and i needed a new one so i popped down to tescos. £2.97 for steam iron
clearly it was way to cheap for my usual high standards so i bought the deluxe version (with vairable steam settings) for £5.75.
lidl's though are not bad for fruit/veg. i'm a tesco/waitrose/m&s shopper usually but bought some fruit/veg from lidl's and was very impressed for the price.
personally i hate these kind of shops as we as a nation don't need to lower ourselves to the levels that these places cater for. hell i grew up on a ****ty council estate and was skint as it gets but my mum always shopped at sainsburys.

Things which are to be avoided at all costs, are the 7 pence baked beans, which taste interestingly of cinamon, and the 'mis-shaped' bacon, which is just plain bloody awful
![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
And get the cream donuts if you're not worried about blood pressure and all that, as they're not bad at all

It's probably down to the fact all your taste buds have died by now, not much still working at your age.
Or this thread could be a load of bollocks, like the rest of your posts. When do you go back to school?

Farm worker goes into field at 5am and picks Turnip ....
Farmer takes Turnip to local market and tries to sell it for MORE than Tescos are selling it for!!
![EEK!](images/smilies/eek.gif)
WHY?? Tesco get the same Turnip, maybe from the same farmer!, transport it, chill it, distribute it, shelve it, provide free bags and heat and light for buyers!!
Naaaaaaaa, Farmers Markets will ONLY work if they price sensibly!
