No, as it doesnt respresent throttle responsiveness when you open it up at 60mph, it shows how it performs whilst already accelerating.

We arent trying to get an exact figure to the nearest 0.1 of a second, just prove its in the same ballpark, nothing more!

Not even that. You may well use different gears/shift points to obtain the best 0-60, 0-130 and 60-130mph.

Furry muff. Could it match a 500 bhp 4wd car from a rolling start? Of course it could. Good work and look forward to linking up soon mate. If your up for the fourth we can swap cars and see how they go . I'd be particularly keen see how it goes when it's had some chassis work. I was brought up on FWD cars but have never driven one as powerful as this Astra. Again, If I gave feedback on it you have my word that'd be entirely objective.

PM me. You know were I am

Again, im quite happy to concede the point, like i said we arent trying to get an exact figure to the nearest .1 of a second.

Sometimes for a 0-60 time it pays to hang on longer to second to avoid an extra change etc, perfectly aware of all that, im a clever bloke believe it or not, i do grasp these concepts, but it doesnt change anything ive said.

You may be good at driving FWD cars, but im not sure Rob is so hot in 4wd ones as he has never owned one, so i think a passenger lap in each others cars might be a better bet!

I cant comment on if he can make the 4th or not though, hopefully he will be online soon.

but im POSITIVE he will take you up on the 60-120mph sprint thing ASAP though.

There is a cruise down in plymouth area on the 24th IIRC, maybe we could all meet up then?

PS

If you drove it on the current suspension setup i suspect your objective opinion of its cornering prowess would be "dangerous" and im sure Rob would agree!

The spring rates are TOTALLY wrong for the weight of the car and especially for the fact its so nose heavy, it all needs redoing.

PS

car in the other lane is one of the countries quickest skylines im guessing, seeing as the only way to be at TOTB in the first place is to qualify above other cars of the same marque (well unless you are the only astra trying to get in, lol)

Don't do the cruise scene mate but I'd be happy to meet up for a civilised chat and who knows were that might lead.

OK, so how many 60-120 runs can the Astra do before running out of Nitrous? I am not knocking anybody but Nitrous can be fitted to any car to make it go fast. The only downside is it certainly doesn't last long enough to make it viable for anything more than a few runs down a drag strip.

Looks wicked in the video mate and I'm sure it's a very rewarding (read scary ) car to drive !
Have you ever considered making it mid/rear engined 2wd ? Not joking, you would retain the P/W ratio but have no traction issues.
Not as big a job as it may appear if you move the complete cradle/eng/box/struts.

Then you really would have the best of both worlds for drag and circuit use !

just for the record and to maybe clear some things up i joined the site to defend my car for an argument that was started on another site and flowed onto this one, about how fast in a straight line my car is and if there was any cars in plymouth to beat it . i have never and will never say it is faster than a scooby or an evo (or at the moment a standard astra gte ) at going around corners i fully respect the development that has gone into these cars on some of the highest levels of motorsport development and also the fact my car at the moment cannot handle a corner for **** (as carl knows )
but i will be sorting that out and as carl has said the car is all there just needs some last things doing properly ie:suspention lol

i may well come along to the a road thing but again i do not stand a chance at keeping with you boys carl is i am afaid completely out of my league when it comes to drive skill some thing i am working on but do not have as much as would be needed to keep with you boys on a dark a road i am willing to go to combe but because of the suspention thing again i dont think its worth it

and as chip has already said you can drive it from an acceleration point of view but if you try to corner hard you will be in a ditch i am afraid

i hope this makes ppl realise that i do nothave blikers about what my car is capable of and have never said it will beat scoobys when corners are involved that would just be silly

Can't wait to see the finished item complete with suspension - you're making mig proud!

And i have heard a vicious rumour that Astras can be made to handle pretty well, well enough to leave my scoob behind anyway...

imo it would then be the slowest of the slow cars it would never compete with the likes of the rwd cars at totb at least this way i get to chase the heals of the fwd class leaders if it was not for the icv letting go at totb i think i would have been in 3rd place never mind next year but in the rwd class i dont have the money to be fast enought

but if thats your thing chip has a mid engine'd rwd 2lt turbo nova running about 300bhp off gas and 400 on

Hello Ben,

I'll be there on Thursday - but the scoob may not be (the pit's having money shoveled in at the moment). Next Thurs it ought to make an appearance however . Just off the A38 as well.
