Have you ever considered making it mid/rear engined 2wd ? Not joking, you would retain the P/W ratio but have no traction issues.
Not as big a job as it may appear if you move the complete cradle/eng/box/struts.

Then you really would have the best of both worlds for drag and circuit use !

One step ahead of you there Andy mate!

and engine bay shot here from when it used to be just a nitrous's normally aspriated motor:

Thats one of my cars at the moment, Same basic engine as Robs (although he is being a little generous calling it 300bhp off gas at the moment, its more like 250 currently) mid mounted using all fwd running gear mounted in the boot, and mounted to a 6 speed gearbox with a quaiffe, almost finished and ready to see the road again, i just need to take a couple of weeks off from my role at Toyota to get it finished over the winter.

Might be a crappy looking nova, but i swear its the most fun you can have with your clothes on

A single bottle lasts about 150 seconds or so on Robs car with how its setup currently.

So around 30 times from a single bottle, but the thing is quick enough off gas that unless you are actually racing someone or showing off to a passenger there is no real need to use the gas TBH, its still a quick car (give a 400bhp scooby a good run for its money, so if you have driven one of those you will know what i mean) without the gas.

He's got 3 bottles currently though, so if he wanted to he could T-Piece all 3 in and do 100 runs from 60-120 without a problem, but unless he is at the ring i cant see him ever feeling the need to do so in a day really.

Like any race though, you make sure you have enough fuel/nitrous/clutch material etc to last from the beginning to the end, thats just a case of preperation.

Robs car is slower without petrol than it is without nitrous, and petrol you have to go to a petrol station to refill where as personally i have a nitrous refill bottle in my workshop anyway, so thats no trouble at all.

I guess if you live somewhere remote it could be a problem to get hold of gas though, but i just take it for granted i will always have it to hand.

Nice one chip

I was seriously considering mid-engining my scoob some time ago in order to save some weight, then the plan changed to twin engine.......but alas never transpired.

FWIW, from a very recent datalog of my current car it ran 80-120 in 3rd (yes 3rd !) in 2.8 secs. That was with a 40 shot of gas on top of 2.2 bar boost.

Keep up the good work creating these wicked machines

Good luck!
Bought a cally turbo today (Minus the engine and box) so all i need now is the locked transfer box.

I'm sure that was me! Just pulling out of Jarman park turning right on the roundabout, you came roaring up my ****!
I was hoping you where going to follow me down the duel carridgeway but you pulled off at the next roundabout.
In the very short distance we floored it i was wheelspinning in 2nd gear! Would have been fun to have played a bit more!

It's a 3dr Mk2 Astra SX with low comp cali turbo engine running over 300bhp.

I'll keep an eye out for you!
