I have an MY05 STI PPP and had a play the other weekend from a few lay bys and launched 3 times to 60 in 4.5 sec's bringing the clutch up to full bite as soon as possible at the point where you pass bog down territory. Takes a little practice and use about 3000Rpm as you get full bite on the clutch get the loud pedal to the floor. Did get a bit if a rubber burning smell for about 1/2 a mile up the road (so a little wheel spin, well more of a rumble as it was just beyond traction limits so biting pretty hard into the tarmac). Tried it with a bit of bog down and still got 5.1 sec to 60, so generally quite pleased. I recon sub 5 sec's is achievable with little clutch abuse if you get the feel and balance right. Wouldn't go for the 4.5 all the time though as a lot of stress is going through the drive train at those times.

Japshow probably, Jap racer nah, going to the pod on sunday though mate if you wanted to test anything out im aiming to top your terminal speed....and see what time that brings!

My turbos duff anyway Bob, could have achieved 285bhp on a TD04....!

Ill just put it down to a good launch, as the car was full weight at the time and i dont full throttle change...

Can't make this weekend as I have some other stuff on. And besides 3 weekends events in a month is more than enough.

Never tried flat-shifting myself. Something you're going to try?

Good luck with the terminals.

Will be at JapShow.

Tested on the weekend @ Donnington (Tuner GP).

a cars speed can be different from how its been driven throughout the day so i was told, eg, if its been doing a long stretch on motorway, or been thrashed all day,
i had a zr and my mate had a rover 200 same engine but mine always beet his, but one day he did beat me, has alot to do with the driver aswell, half a second at changing gear, changing gear at the best rpm, can all add up to a cpl of car lengths,

Just popped up to Quenbys, Full bodykit is on and quickshift is in - Gutted cos I am off to Florida in a couple of days and won't get to play with my new toy before I leave. Can't wait to get back after 3 weeks of driving a US spongemobile to test out the full capabilities of my new WRX PPP (only 2000 on the clock )
