215/45/17 should be 215/40/17 then if you move the 18's:
215/40/17 should be 215/35/18.
(for classics)
All that will happen is that your speedo will be reading a little (not very much at low speeds) out and your gearing will be lengthened a touch.
Im pretty certain thats correct, but if it aint, Im sure someone will correct me

I've been offered some P1 alloys and the tyres they come with are 225-40-18ZR Bridgestones. I'm going to put them on my '99 Type-R STi.
Just worried now about my Speedo not being accurate now!
At least the gearing will be lengthened! The Type-R Group N box really needs it!!!!!!

Just seen some pics of the 18" wheels I've been offered. 2 Wheels are kerbed and will need refurb'd. Any idead how much this will cost? The Tyres look good though.
Is this a good deal for £700?
I have also been offered some brand new 17" P1 alloys in Antharite (exactly the same as the above 18's), still boxed, but without tyres for £450.
Which sounds like the better deal?

Just to give you an idea of what I've just sold/paid etc..
Sold my 17" OZ SuperTurismo's with Toyo Proxy T-1R's, they had about 4mm+ of tread left, two small curb marks that couldnt be seen very easily and I got £450 which also covered delivery for them.
I paid £950 for my 18" Kei Ultralites with Toyo Proxy T-1R's, brand new.
Its up to you, but I think if you're going to change, go for 18"s as you'll probably end up wishing you'd done that in a few months or something. Personally, I think £700 is a bit steep, when for an extra £2-300, you can get some brand new wheels and tyres but hey, thats just me
