Good luck with that then. During the last fuel protest I had several muppets who couldn't understand why I wasn't prepared to join their queue for petrol when all I wanted was LPG which no-one else did. After questioning their logic I ended up asking them if violence would satisfy them so I'd hazard a guess that you probably would get lynched.

I wasn't thinking straight! Too early in the day, community service in iraq is a much better idea!

Thumbs down

Interestingly BBC News 24 are reporting that it's morons on the internet that are spreading the Panic and causing a crisis by spreading lies and rumours.

Strange that.

Also, the police are asking that such people are reported to them so that they can be dealt with and made an example of.

Still a 40-car queue at the local Shell near Macc ... bizarre ....

@DannyB -- it's a pity that LRP is largely phased out now. During the last fuel blockades I was able to waltz past the queues on my old Suzuki triple stroker and fill up as all the LRP pumps were standing idle. No-one said a word 'cos very few people could use the stuff

Garages that have run out will need to wait until Friday to be re-stocked!!

One garage is on the news, had a delivery at 6pm and it was all gone by 7pm!!

This could be the end of civilisation as we know it!!

UB Says "Interestingly BBC News 24 are reporting that it's morons on the internet that are spreading the Panic and causing a crisis by spreading lies and rumours."

Its the newspapers... pratts ... headlines saying panic buying, so now there IS panic buying. After all, if its in the papers, then it has to be true.

I totally agree with that. I'm sure I heard the news a few days ago that there will be blocades. Or at least that's what I understood from it.

Panic has been created by the medias.

The following is the situation as seen locally, regionally and nationally.

There is currently a lot of panic buying going on in places across the country, which is leading to shortages at a number of petrol stations. This is totally uncalled for; there is plenty of fuel available in the country.
Under EU law the UK is required to hold 67.5 days of emergency stock.
Currently, we have 80 days of stock. About 2% of this stock is being released as part of the International Energy Agency's supply-side response to hurricane Katrina, leaving well over 2 months of reserve ready for distribution to retail outlets. Fresh crude oil supply is coming into the country for refining as normal.

No fuel depots are being blockaded, nor do the protesters intend to blockade any fuel depot or refinery, in fact their spokesman has told the BBC that they do not intend to take any action which will disrupt the supply of fuel to the public (quoted on the BBC website). While it is inconvenient, the current panic buying will probably cause a shortage at some pumps for a day or two but it is fully expected that this situation will be dealt with by the end of the week, with normal supplies being available everywhere.

We all know the country has enough fuel thats not the problem, presuming there was going to be some half decent blockades then we would have had a little trouble with getting the petrol out - as last time...

Thing thats funny round here now though is everybody has a full tank of fuel now. Today Ive come to work in the rex and everywhere is empty. I'll tootle down there at dinner and fill up... no queues, sorted
