I would say that I'd have to agree with his view on SN too, although he has considerably more clout in saying it, given his moderator status.

Rubbish mate ... scoobynet has got the way it has because of the arrogant older members who can't get it into their heads that the car is a cheap performance saloon and young people desire and have the means to purchase one.

The fact Paul is a moderator means ****

He is taking the enthusiast term and adding conditions to it, sort of turning it into an elite status - which is wrong.

agreed, its a state of mind not something you qualify for by reaching a certain age or income level.

Don't get me wrong Gangsta, I'm 28, I wouldn't like to discourage anyone from buying a Scooby on the basis of age alone. However, I would like to see certain type of individuals discouraged from buying a Scooby (many of which happen to be young, but not exclusively by any means) What you have to remember is that not everyone has your level of appreciation for the car or maturity!

If you get one of these cars, have fun by all means, they're designed to be enjoyed, but owning a real performance car means you also have to grow up and judging from some of the posts we get on here, some people clearly haven't!

I agree too, but I just don't see what conditions Paul has supposedly attached to the term "enthusiast". As far as I can make out he's merely pointed out what we already know: i.e. that as iconic cars age, there tend to be a higher proportion of, lets say "undesireable" owners, irrespective of age, background or whatever.

There's a saying in the trade: "before a car becomes a classic, it becomes cheap".

It doesnt matter how old you are, how much you pay for the car and what clothes you wear.

You buy the car at the end of the day because you want it and are interested in it. So doesnt that make us all enthusiast's.....
