I'm still looking in vain for the thread that showed a mass cry for lewis to stay on Scoobynet (when he said he was leaving), and not take his trolling drivel elsewhere...

Perhaps, if no-one else, Pete can point me in the direction of such a supportive thread?

sorry new to this! i have looked back to see how i could be so stupid and can't seem to find one previous post which mentions that the VAT levied is not just levied on the 'material costs' but is also on the TAX as well, which was my point. i just wondered if others new this as well as when i found out it was a shock - but then again being me being dumb...

if i lived closer to you i would of course allow you to tie me to your bumper so you could drag me around for my stupidity

relax a little

Remember that you are likely to have paid income tax on the amount in the first place! I'm sure it's all spent responsibly on good causes by the government.

Well I dont intend on dragging you around tied to my bumper. That would be unfair but I would have thought it'd be obvious that the VAT is on the total price (including the duty) as I cant see people start working out VAT ontop of the fuel then add the duty on afterwards. Theres many (too many) threads regarding petrol prices at the minute and its been mentioned in all of them.

Sorry for sounding harsh, just cant believe people are still talking about all this. Like Ive said before, people are paying it, so they'll charge it, simple really

absolutely! i just think that sometimes we all don't think about how successive govts have set up the tax structure. you are correct - see council tax, road tax, insurance premium tax etc. unlike France, we just sit and take it - the only burning sheep we get are on BBQs!

Exactly. Whilst they can make money on it, they'll sell it how they like and charge what they want. Unfortunately people think they have a right to own a car rather than seeing it as a luxury which it really still is (although I'm sure plenty of you would beg to differ ).
