"French Champagne" - that's the one that gets me! It can't be bloody champagne unless it's French! Oh - and the habit of always saying the place name followed by the location: London, England. Rome, Italy etc Grrrrrr

And look on the brightside - we gave them the whole of the language to start with - if they want to tinker around with a few words, then why not?

I`ve spent alot of time there over the last few years and was told by a few people "I don`t speak English, I speak American". One person actually said "sure they speak American in Paris"...

Unless you're from Sunderland, Where the H isn't pronounced in a lot of words. Yanks have a lot of trouble with North-East accents, as does most of the UK! However, I'm not mistaken for South African or a Swede in the UK, as i was in the states!

Just to be pedantic, Aluminum wasn't invented anywhere, it's like Gravity, it was just sat there waiting for somebody to discover it

Yeah, but you've only got about sixteen letters in your alphabet up there, and H isn't one of them Which, on the bright side means that tw@t from Steps could never claim to be one of yours

There are whole words missing in these neck of the woods - mainly Sunderland, Premiership & win.

Aluminium is nothing like gravity. Its refined from bauxite. The ore was just sat there waiting for someone to devise a refinement method.

Back to the yanks...Always amazes me how many times they say "opportooniddy" and do my "doody"

I refuse to refer to those anorexic strips of crispy additive sold in the likes of McDogs, and the like as chips

A Chip is a 5/8" square, 3-5" long chunk of Golden Wonder potato that has been deep fried in exeptionally hot oil, drenched in Malt Vinegar and sprinkled with Salt

40 odd billion people play Football not american softie rugby
invent some ****ty generic name like "oblong ball" and **** off back to the states and pretend you're world champions at your own designated crap sports
SOCCER is not actually an Americanism, it's derived from Association Football and was used in England in the 1860's to differentiate Football from Rugby Football

Another one I've just remembered, that the American wannabe Steve Wright does a lot, is pronouncing the date. As far as I can recall the date should be spoken as "The twenty-second of September, two thousand and five." The way the Americans say it; "September twenny-two, two thousand five", really grates on me

Hunkering! Since Katrina and Rita everyone seems to be "hunkering down"

Has anyone in the UK ever "hunkered" in the past?

I did wonder if the 7/7 bombings in London were on a different date would the bbc have adopted the mm/dd system. They obviously wanted to try and draw some similarity with 9/11.
