Now thats really worrying!! If you even know how to impress young boys with sweets, you could end up on a registar that gets held by the government and you don't have to offer your details for - they take them.
Nearly everyone likes the looks of the Impreza including my Wife, who didn't actually like the back end of the LCR, but would have put up with it had the salesman been good enough to offer a real world deal (Aye, these LCR's are to order only mate - around 14 weeks. 2 mins later - you could have one that's due in 2 weeks, or have the one in the showroom that the punter cancelled, but that's list plus a grand for the Recaro's . Still no discount though)

it really is this simple.... ever seen a leon do a sub 10 second quarter mile? nah me neither..seen a scooby do it though. a few times.

i know of a fwd car on here that would hand all your seat ***** back to you in a sling..and its a vauxhall!!! best you put up and shut up at ten of the best 5 lol.
Some scally?? Doesn't a Cupra R cost the same as a WRX

Aren't the WRX crew ''scally's'' for having the base model car? What about the sti mob that only have the middle of the range car?

Nobody is comparing a LCR to a WR1

Although RR's car will hand a WR1 its *** on a plate! It will only be the guys that have 400+bhp that will be able to shut him up and there aint that many of you

Dont bang on about knowing someone with a fast vauxhall! There's a jabbasport golf that will put him in his place! FWD aswell

Interesting read this thread. I'll freely admit I saw a link to this thread from SeatCupra.net and decided to join to comment. Although scooby owners read on because you might be interested in my post

I own a 03 Leon Cupra R ( Ex Jason Platos company car ) , and it's been Revo'd. Now I had a mate with a bug eye'd WRX STI and on the way to a friends birthday party on the M3 we had a play. From about 50mph we both booted it after giving the nod and off we went. I was pulling away from him fairly quickly which surprised me at the time. By the time we were into silly speeds I was a car length ahead. This was in the dry on a straight road though.

I've also been out in a WRX and I can quite easily see why the owners love them so much. They grip like F*&* in all conditions. Point to point on a nice B road and you have an immence grin on your face. The LCR would still be spinning it's wheels on the first corner or backwards in a hedge trying to keep up.

For a long time I thought I had a problem with my LCR because it handles like a barge. Only I've driven about 8 in total now and they're all the same. Crashes over bumps, wallows in bends from too much body roll. I quite openly admit on cupranet taht the LCR handles craply, and I get slated for it, so I expect the same again in a few hours.

Both are quick cars, but in different ways. For munching the motorway miles the LCR is fantastic. But show it a nice B road and you need to back right off.

Mitchy.

Are you not the same mitchy who constantly used to post on Cliosport about how there was no way a clio or any hot hatch could keep up with a subaru? Are you not the same Mitchy who used to own an MG 160 (ahem) Are you not the same Mitchy who only races in straight lines because you crashed said MG into a field and have now lost your bottle? Just wondering……

End of the day,

can't you guys just all agrea there are fast cars out there. On top of that there are now so so many scoobies on the road ( of which 80% can't drive them properly) apparently at last count there was over a million blue ones!!! lol.

But all manufacturers seem to have cars that are just quicker and quicker and i think we are starting to get to the point where all hot hatches and super saloons are slowly but surely getting to the performance barriers of cars, I mean it was only 10 years ago that a 9 second 0-60 was considered quick, but as soon as 200bhp hot hatches became the norm then the scoobies and rally legends don't look as good.

Just look at the latest offering from ford in the Focus ST, it is quicker than the ( in my opinion 1 of top five cars ever produced) RS200. And this is the norm, but regardless of how much more they develope the cars, they will not make them much faster, where is the limit.

So lets all stop quoting bhp, 0-60, 60-120 and just accept, scoobies are fast, Leons are fast and so are a lot of cars. I still think there will always be certain cars that stick out though, and yes scoobies sound the **** ( as long as they don't have silly dump valves) so they stand out, Escort cossies look the **** so they stand out, but if i am honest Leons don't really stand out, in fact most modern hot hatches don't really shout " i am fast" they are more like the new Golf GTi which you could walk past and never even know it was there.

Also if i really wanted a quick car, and a car guaranteed to trounce every single car on this and any other forum, then i would just borrow my mate's dad's car, and lets just say his surname is Doran, 0-60 in 1.7secs anyone???

RR- how much have you spent on your car to date mate?

Just wondering if you spent the same amount on a scoob what sort of power that would be putting out.

I am mitchy Have i got a cliosport stalker

Yes i used to give you cliosport mob some hassle over stories of clio williams thrashing imprezas. I couldn't believe how a shi**y tin shed could keep pace with a 4wd turbocharged scooby. However after leaving the subaru badge behind, i now realise the stories were probably true

Lets not mention the MG We were all young and foolish once.

I love racing in the twisties now and with 320 going through the fronts its quite an experience

I haven't looked at current prices, but no, when I was looking for a car 18 months ago, a LCR 225Bhp (Not long released then) was £18000, a WRX Blobeye was £19600, the Subaru salesman was willing to offer discount, and because of that, he got the deal and I started rampaging through the options catalogue and spent way over the £17000 that I wanted to get a LCR for.

Muppet....Enough torque to make me sh*t my pants! Dont be so stupid!

A remap alone on a 225 LCR will push beyond 300lbft! Some revo owners having 320lbft from just a remap so dont give me your cack about high torque figures!

Thats through FWD, not a power sapping 4wd system like you have!

RR has approx 350bhp @ flywheel, and around 310bhp @ wheels! Even if you did have 350 @ flywheel your wheels figures would be down around 250bhp!

Work it out batman, dont take the brains of an arch bishop does it

You are a typical dim witted scooby owner. you dont have lexus lights on your chavved out scooby do you

Now that is a quick car!!!, I don't think many folk on any forum have a challenger for that one. I assume you are talking about one of the most lethal RS200's in existence?

You just need to search around. There are brand new imprezas advertised in autotrader for £15-16000.

Never said anything about it being UK spec but still you can pick up a WRX for cheap money

http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW...ch_full=SEARCH

2nd car from bottom, even priced under £15000

Ah, but that's the point Mitchy, I did, and I stated that I had gone to a Subaru DEALER and a Seat DEALER, so that when I bought the car, I would have the full back up and services of the dealer network and all that entails. I never at any point mentioned that I was willing to buy a Grey, European or Parallel Import. So at the time of purchase, there was a £1600 difference in list prices.

Buts lets face it, you have taken the bait once again and are sat at your computers raging about being beaten by a Lcr. This is where the diff lies in our feelings on the subject, i dont care if a scoob, Evo, Nova, Saxo, Clio beats me, because if it does then he/she has done the ground work on the car to be able to do it. Fact is scoobs aint that quick in wrx form this thread proves it.

You guys should really not get so wound up, and just say whatever. Lcr beats scoob.......so what. Tomorrow scoob beats Lcr...so what. But you should burst your bubble and look outside Scoobs get beaten everyday, there are not unbeatable.

You probably already knew this but...I doesnt make any sense to race to 'x'mph, as 2 different cars can have the same 0-x mph and one can be ahead of the other. It makes sense to race a distance and 1/4mile is more than enough of a test of a cars abilty, is safe, legal, measurable and includes driver skill in a 'heads-up' situation.

Let me know.

tbh on the road I really wouldn't bother with Seats.

and as I've already said - I agree that bug wrx aren't fast.

...and if I wanted to beat you all I'd use my bike which'll do 0-60 in 2.7 seconds and laugh as you all wait to catch up.

But seriously, you can get a lot more shopping in the back of an Impreza, and it looks less like you have borrowed your mums car because you can't afford your own.

before i bought my scoob back in august, i test drove an 04 cupra r and a 54 wrx...

the cupra was very nice but the wrx just blew the cupra r away in terms of all round driver enjoyment, and i just fell in love with it instantly, so i went i bought an 03 STI w/PPP

Not slating scoobies at all mate. I've already said for wet and twisty conditions along with off line traction i would rather have my scooby! I loved my scooby when i had it!

It wasn't until afterwards i realised it wasn't as quick as i first thought! I only got rid because of the ''chav'' image it was receiving, along with silly fuel costs!

There's a certain stretch of 'runway' i use all the time. About a mile and a half down the 'runway' is a sign that i always use as a benchmark.

I come flying off the roundabout as quick as i can and put the foot down until i reach this sign! I always managed to get to approx 140mph in the scooby before i had to brake! In my chipped LCR so roughly the same power, its just a tad over 150 and with nitrous switched on i can reach the sign doing 160.

I would say thats quite an improvement seeing as my scooby had 275bhp also.

Couldn't give a toss hence why i drive a cheap mans audi, or should i say VW

If i was after image, i'd be driving round in a beemer/audi/porsche etc

The scooby image however went below the belt. It got to the point where my mates started to rip the **** for driving the 'new' nova. Every car forum site has lost respect for scoobies, mainly due to the vast number of UK versions! P1 excluded! All the jap versions are still awesome cars IMO.

Funny that as ive never heard a bad word against the evo and scooby and evo go together like burberry and chavs

Let's not forget the LCR weighs 1376kg versus the 1235kg of the classic scoob which pretty much wipes out the transmission loss advantage of FWD.

Is that for the sti version?

Thats around the same as a chipped LCR 60-100 but then we are talking classic scoobies! This thread is about the bugeye/blobeye heavyweight versions.

Everyone knows the classics were better

i had a uk300 with ppp pushing out about 246bhp prior to buying a 04 JDM STI pushing abut aprox. 350bhp with much more torque. The different is huge - not just in outright power but also in handling/brakes etc

tbh they really ar a world apart - to the point where i wouldn't compare them against each other. I could imagine a wrx struggling against some of the cars mentioned on here - i was surprised myself when i had it - i've not come second yet in the new one though

Why not bob, they seem pretty accurate to me!

Standard LCR is around 10secs 60-100 which of course is nothing to shout about but i would say they were fairly accurate. I would have thought blobeye to be around 11secs

Its just because the impreza is below all 3 hatches isn't it mate
