LCR's handle like a barge as pointed out by when of your fellow owners. I dont really enjoy straight line racing - it doesnt EVER put a smile on my face - Doing a quick back road however always does and the scooby is miles better at this whether in dry or wet conditions - Thats why I bought mine not to thrash it down a slip road - A bit sad if you bought your car to do that!!!

Also the LCR only costs £500 to remap up to 275BHP or whatever. Why did Seat not release it with this power - Because the chasis cant handle it - too much wheel spin and it loses driveability.

If they had released it with this power it would have hit the headlines more than it ever did and ever will.

They do look nice though and I wouldnt mind one but my scooby is miles better - Uk standard Turbo.

He is right here, the scoobs are unfortunatly receiving a chav imag purely because some of the muppets who can now afford the 4k examples on the market, But this does happen to every car once price drops to a certain level, and will happen to the LCR as well. I think the Civic type-r has gone from a thinking mans hot hatch to a boyo's motor of choice as the prices have crashed down to 7k, as soon as the cars become affordable more **** ending up owning them, and what they do in them and to them tarnishes everyone else. Even the fake versions. i am always surprised at the amount of fake WRX's there are going round ( sports dressed up with the bonnett and wheels)

But for ome reason the scooby has always been a little bit more chav compared to its arch nemisis Lancer Evo. I think it boils down to numbers on the road, i would love to know what the ratio of NA to Turbo is in the Impreza sales in the UK. I bet its very low in NA form.

end of day you pays your money and makes your choice, everyone to there own. And for those who keep hammering on about i beat this i beat that, shut up! tak it to the race track, the public roads are too crowded to be racing at silly speeds, i woul be careful what you say on a public forum, details etc, as Big Brother is always watching, there has ben enough people caught out by this in the past, i think we have all seen the threads referring to this.......

Play safe!

That figure was taken from letstorquebhp but I will go out and time it with my AP22. I have a UK Turbo 2000 with decat and remap making "approx" 280bhp (bum dyno). I get 11.8secs 0-100 and 4.67secs to 60 with the AP22

They never released it in 275bhp format as FWD is the killer! They would have needed to develop some sort of lsd to cope and that would have bumped the price of the car up. (emissions/fuel economy/insurance etc)

1 person has said the LCR doesn't handle that good but i wouldn't call it a barge! It laps various circuits in around the same time as the CTR/clio sport so it cant be that bad.

Bob..Something to do with, you cant deduct 0-60 from the 0-100 time to get an accurate 60-100? Why not?

Is it because, you actually have to start at 60 in gear, overcome what lag there is and off you go? or roll through 60mph from a lower speed, say in 3rd gear from 50mph and then starting the clock as it passes 60? hence increasing the 60-100 time.

Doing it that way is a good indication of a cars 60-100 i think!

Lets torque have done it for all cars so overall it is a good comparison.

Is that on standard td04 turbo?

Readings seem a bit optimistic to me as i bet you cant transfer that onto santapod. I cant remember the last time i heard or seen a UK tuned car on standard turbo producing any worthwhile results. Ive seen a lot of uk scoobies coming out with 14.5 sec 1/4's and many who cant launch for sh*t!

AP22 is only as accurate as the guy that programmes the settings! I had 1 and there are far too many variables! Got rid of it after a week!

Mitchy ffs.. the time you spend here could be spend on earning money so that you again one day can afford (running) a scoob

everyone here knows that the scooby isnt a straight line racer but a rally bread car hence the awd grip and handling thats why ive always liked scoobs

so you beat a scoob in your seat, congrats m8 that is really something..

ive beat seat cupras here, sure they are quick but a lot of cars is, so instead of the silly straight line **** racing i always invite muppets like you to come to the country side and have a go on the hills and twisties

i know whos gonna end up on their roof.. and og yea grow up and drive safely you have a quick car you know that yourself, so you dont need to come here and show off cause we really dont care, we love our scoobs for the handling, the awd and the wonderfull flat4 rumble

have a nice day boy racer...

Okay, this drivel has gone far enough so ill let you argue amongst yourselves from now on! The scooby is a great car, just not as quick as you'd like to think though! Mitchy is leaving the building

Has been fun though

As already stated, Imprezas aren't the quickest cars on the road. I love MY94 WRX, but after all, it's a rally car you know, for those of you that have lost sight of our heritage. On the proper WRC rally stages, our cars (scoobies) along with the other wrc monsters, get regularly pi**ed on by front wheel drive junior wrc on occasions, or even front wheel drive privateers, on certain tarmac stages. But these cars are nowherew, on the loose stages - Bring on the Cupra r, BMW M3 etc etc on a forest stage - most of these get stuck in a muddy carpark, whilst watching the stages of my local Bmth Winter rally. Just appreciate the car for what it is, and realise that other like minded people enjoy their performance cars for the same reason.
Enjoy your motoring,
Gonzo.

Sorry guys but to a non petrolhead type person..any sporty version of a car looks chav thanks to the lax power brigade.

cars are now coming with 19 inch alloys as standard..bling bling

8 speaker sound systems....pumpin' base

fat chrome exhausts......phat!!!!

chrome fuel cap....... suits you sir!!!!

blue headlamps and bee sting aerial... halfords gift voucher!

that pretty much describes a barryboy,it also describes most standard hot new performance cars..so stfu about the subrau being chav because if you drive a performance car.. the chances are in the eyes of joe public you look like a one..well that or you are suffering from small **** syndrome.

regarding the mitsy, yeah the evo gets more respect..i shall give that another few months..seeing as the amount of evo 3s and 4s on autotrader and other publications is getting very very large..and those prices keep a dropping. soon kev down the road will have one anf then its bye bye good reputation..hello ASBO.

if you dont want to look like a chav..get a nissan micra 1.3 and look like elton john instead ps..leons come with 18s and ''slammed'' skirts all round. hardly conservative and upmarket ..eh geeza!!!

The MY95 UK Saloon runs a TD05 turbo as standard. I get a 13.59 sec 1/4 @ 105mph on the road. I am sure I can easily beat that on a sticky strip.

As you obviously know nothing of the AP22, I shall explain that the unit calibrates itself prior to each reading for the incline of the vehicle. The results for times and distances are accurate straight out of the box. The BHP figures are calculated from the user's entered data (weight and cd figures).

An easy 13.4secs when I was on that spec and that was on a v slippery day @ Pod, with a slipping clutch.

Agreed that 0-100mph may be a little optimistic on that spec (if it's on a TD04).

Read above, the UK MY95 Turbo saloon has a TD05 as standard fitment. There is a few other mods but am maxing out the airflow meter and 380cc injectors. As said, I guesstimate 280bhp. Andy F mapped the Apexi PFC.

To record a 60-100mph time you would not necessarily be in the same gear as you would be for doing a 0-100mph run. Thats why its not an accurate to simply deduct one number from another.

FFS LetsTorque is some poxy website that can be put up by anyone. Its not a bible of truth. They just deduct one figure from another. Autocar test the acceleration from 30-70mph properly. They both measure rolling 40mph, so why not use the accuratley tested figures?

This is another example of why Forums can somtimes be bad, all this my **** is bigger than your **** rubbish.

Thought everyone here was a petrol head of some sort, so can't everyone just appreciate everyone elses cars, i know i do when i go up the pod.

Next minute you'll be arguing about diesels vs petrols ( well that seems to be the usual debate on the Vag forums)

Chill!!!!

that is the point much more fun than either, I will say in the dry on a b road not much could keep up with my old E30 M3 (although you had to be ragging it) and anyway as has been stated earlier the point of loving driving is not, IMO, about outright speed neccessarily, I take satisfaction from drifting my London runaround (Renny 5 1.2ltr!!!) round a roundabout in the wet at 20mph as I do caning my classic scooby at license losing speeds!

Chippy - top point about your R5 - it's all relative you know. Loose it on a r-bout, and you might buckle a wheel, loose it in the scoob, and your'e lucky to get away with it, cos of the high nos involved on the speedo. I seem to remember the late, great James Hunt saying after his slide down the ladder wealth wise, that he reckoned he had more fun driving flat out in his mini van than he'd had in all his supercars he'd owned.

thanks guys, it is just scary how fast modern cars are, even my classic Impreza doesn't get close to its limits until you are breaking the law in a big way, I dread to think how fast you have to be going in a full on STI RA TYPE C thingy etc...

I love cars period, I have my favourites whether they are logical choices or not eg huge fan of M BMWs/Subarus but hate Vauxhalls, no reason for this really and I know many Vauxhalls are very good cars but I just can't bring myself to own one, it is all personal choice and I think that is great.

Sorry don't really know what I am trying to say!!!!

I love these kind of threads because it is always fun to argue which car is faster/better than which but ultimately so much depends on conditions and driver, I bet Ayrton Senna in my Renny 5 would keep up with a Golf GTi in the wet on a b road driven my average joe, stretching it a little but you get my point...blah blah blah

I have never been to a cruise in my life. I have never been to Teeside park to a cruise or Redcar to a cruise, in the last 12 months i have been to Redcar car park once and at that time i was talkling to TheotherPhil. Actually i have never been to any cruise in any area within my whole life. There are people who have claimed to have come across my car but the truth is they never had. My car does less than 50miles per week on average so its unlikely to be seen anywhere but in my garage.

Had a LCR with APR chip (265bhp) for 2years and 53k miles! Fantastic car with great straight line speed when moving. Best all-round car I have owned for value/performance!!!

I’m with Pete though. It did suffer from body roll and overstear! Rarely suffered understear…

Hated off the line wheel spin and wheel hop. Got right on my t!ts!

PS I now have a WRX STI type UK PPP
