Why not take it to a track guys somewhere like cadwell would be fun just be prepared to get all your FWD and 4WD asses handed to you on a plate if there are proper mens RWD nissans there driven by real men

I either cant do enough trackdays or there cant be that many LCR's out there, but I dont remember coming across a quick LCR on track.... must say though my estimation of FWD is so much higher than it used to be, seeing things like modded saxos and ITRs eat very expensive cars on wet twisty tracks

Anyway, my car is so much faster than all of yours

Its a RWD nissan, thats why

On a real and sensible note: If you have a really modded car, whatever it is, its very rare to come across cars on the public roads that are quicker than you. I know I never do. Thats why you should take it to a track to get a little perspective and use it where it should be used

My car did 124.9 mph quarter mile terminal on AP22 with only 403 BHP, on road tyres with full trim, IN THE WET I have picked my highest terminal and my lowest BHP figure, but it states the point that if you think you will always need 400 BHP to keep with an IHI Ibiza you may be mistaken? This setup also made about 350 BHP at the wheels on AP22 or a Dastek dyno, which states the point that AWD losses are grossly overestimated by the majority of dynos. Otherwise, why would I have the figures to back it up?

As I have commented before, by the time you get traction in the IHI, the 403 BHP Scooby I mention above would not be embarrassed (that is why it does 60-100 in 4.7 secs with two gearchanges, 100-125 in a further 3.4). And before you get traction the answer is obvious.

Shopping trolley mods are as impressive as Subaru mods in terms of the power stakes, but if it can't do traction at legal speeds it sounds a bit disappointing as a road car unless you like racing on the bypass... there is a lot more to a nice car than power even I realise that.

FWD race cars have suspension that makes them impractical for good handling on the road. As far as I am concerned, proper power and FWD for a road car still don't convince me. 200 BHP is OK. Even high 400s BHP through AWD feels nice and balanced with modest 215 section tyres on 17" rims.

Why are Scooby owners SOOO touchy? So the odd Scooby gets beaten now and again, big deal - accept defeat like a man and move on. There will ALWAYS be cars out there faster than you, or someone willing to push theirs harder and further than you are prepared to do. Quoting book figures and dynos mean nothing on the road in the real world. Yes nowadays there are many FWD cars out there that are fast and will keep up with you, but a public road is not the place to find out. Don't mention 'wet' and 'twisties' because who in their right mind is going to race someone on a wet, twisty public road - if you want to be wrapped round a tree then feel free.

With SAAB and Vauxhall bringing out V6 turbo cars, expect to be beaten by them too - so what, enjoy your car for what it is, whatever it is.

Yeah I have neons too - Not - I have a completely standard Classic impreza turbo Registered in December 2000 - i.e. a late classic. It is totally standard except the air con and it is going to stay that way - Any mods would be performance related only and under the bonnet.

The reason chavs unfortunately own Impreza's is due to people from all walks of life having a passion for them including myself and the fact that they last and are quite cheap now.

It still astounds me however that they have this image as I have never seen any chav's driving them round here - They are certainly not their favourite car to put neons and the like on!!!

I do like the look of the LCR but if I had wanted one I would have bought one.

Get a life mate and go and tell your little **** ****** on seat how cool your seat IBIZA is - Is it not obvious no one on here gives a flying f*ck - When you go to the pub and tell the guy next to you, you drive an Ibiza I can almost guarantee he will make sure his back is to the wall - Do you think he will care it has 350BHP!!!

My scoob is a uk classic turbo and I dont care if people can leave me in what ever car. My commute is only 7 miles so I usually drive it slowly as it is not warmed up properly - So everyone can beat me but I dont care - I drive a Subaru Impreza turbo - What do you drive?

erm, a slight difference in the funding there mate, bad comparison. the top teams have far more amounts of money to throw at thier cars than the privateers.

if you have actualy been to a BTCC day, you clearly never looked at the actual lap times of all classes on the day. Because i think you will find the single seater Renaults and BMW's were lapping a dam site faster.

Oh, and where are there driven wheels again, Back or Front????

There are hundreds of users on SN that do not own subarus! There are people like me who are ex-scooby owners and there are people who like using SN just for its off topic, non scooby related talk/chat/gossip whatever you want to call it!

When you sell your impreza for something better are you saying you'll never visit/use scoobynet again?

The fact there are a few SEAT owners on here is the fact that this is what this thread is about! We have not come looking for trouble, you have started it all off yourself!

With an attitude like yours, its hardly surprising you scooby mob dont have a good name for yourselves

Isn't BTCC heavily messed about with in order to make it better to watch? I'm under the impression that weight penalties etc. make 4wd and rwd less able to romp away from the fwd cars.

What is a Chav anyway?? and to be one do you have to do something stupid to your car or something stupid in it?? like 130 on a dual carriageway for instance!!!
No mate, I most certainly was not being serious!! Hence the use of smilies!

It would -of course- be completely wrong to plough your scooby into a MPV containing a family of Essex residents!

For a start you'd hurt your car and most probably yourself.

Don't be misled by the banter on here. The vast majority of Scooby owners are VERY responsible behind the wheel. As a community, you'll find that SN does not encourage irresponsible behaviour on the road and anyone who starts bragging about such exploits is usually frowned upon.

Are there 4wd drive cars in Btcc?. Also the Lexus cars are rwd.

Don't think that there are any, although I was not aware that they were banned.

There are lots of weight penalties, BMW used to be always moaning about that with their 3 series. Now the only rwd left is the Lexus as RR pointed out.

Audi used to field 4wd cars, which spanked the field until they were weighted out of contention (rather like the beemers).

The sad thing is BTCC rules give viewers the impression that fwd (chosen for its packaging and cost advantages, and maybe for the 'safe' understeer-on-limit handling) cars are great, when in fact the whole concept is dynamically flawed.

hummm another my cars faster than your car owning a very fast fwd car with lots of power i can honestly say it is a pig in the wet and anyone who says they aint is lieing but under the same token a properl;y set up fwd car with lots of power is a awsome no to ways about it the coments that always get me is the

''not on a twisty wet b road'' imo even if i had a very good 4x4 car i dont think i would drive hard in the wet as it is just to dangerous yes they may hold the road very well in the wet but not when you add hard breaking mid corner .

anyone who has been to track days will have seen fwd cars pushing 4x4 cars around a track dont get me wrong on a rally stage a 4x4 car will come out on top but on a track iyts not as much of an advantage as ppl sometime make out

and above all else this thread started as a my car is faster that that car in a straight line why do scooby owners allways need to go back to the age old argument of its only fast in a straight line, did anyone argue it was not

and the coment about someone feeling safe with there wife in a scooby dropping kids off to school in the wet rather than a polo i think you need to have a word with her about her driving with kids in the car if she need the 4x4 of a scooby to keep her on the road

Guys no-one has ever argued about an imprezas off the line capabilities hence why its always going to fair well on a 1/4 mile strip.

We are not on about standing starts, we have already admitted defeat on that account. It's EVERYDAY situations, ie 30-40 upwards!

Answer this truthfully, how many times have you had a race on a public road where its involved a standing start?

I can honestly say i have never once been in that situation. Im finding it hard to even think where and when you would be in that situation?? Apart from a traffic light grand prix of course. But generally where there is traffic lights, your in a built up area with lots of traffic, not the conditions to go hurtling off for a 0-100 dash is it?

Its real world performance, ie rolling performance! 0-60 and standing starts are a bit fast and the furious dont you think They never happen, or its never once happened to me in the 100000 miles i have done or the 5yrs i have been driving.

A 1/4 mile is generally not going to suit a highpower fwd car as too much power brings too much wheelspin! By the time you have dealt with the wheelspin a well launched scooby should be well off! Doesn't mean its the quicker car though, only that it deals with standing starts better! Midrange is where it counts for 99% of the situations you will find yourself in and the fact is a bugeye/blobeye haven't got the best mid range as proven by the thread starter.

Its pretty obvious that everyone is happy with what the've got. Impreza owner and cupra owners. There will be times when Cupras come out on top and when imprezas do.

(More than often imprezas, lol)

Wow... this thread is still going!!

Anyway after owning three Imprezas (all UK cars, which were a 'little' more powerful than the quoted 208/215bhp ) and now a Forester (as a mum bus for my wife), I'm test driving a Seat Leon Cupra R over the weekend with the view of replacing my commuting car.... a Ford Ka!!

I drive a VW Golf that'd **** all over your scoob and it'd do it while looking better.

Easily the best comment i have ever read on a forum.

Pretty much sums up the new breed of Impreza owners, i feel totally sorry for the proper enthusiasts out there. It'd seem this 'new breed' i talk of think they are invincible and i'm sorry but the impreza is a car i should aspire to own? Where are peoples dreams these days?

Anyway, i like impreza's and have browsed this forum for many years although i only registered to say what a **** you are

You have an impreza, i have a golf neither will gain you respect 'at the pub' unless its to your chav mates

right, firstly golfs suck ! and secondly, the cupra r is probably great midrange
IE: while moving in 3rd at 40mph accelerate to 100mph is very very quick, but put it on the strip with a type r scoob and the cupra would be left for dead, fffaaaaiir nuf??

yeah i agree with you, sure i know a few friends who have integra type r dc2 with over 200hp, and while moving in 3rd 4th etc can keep into standard sti imprezas, all very different cars..im a strictly jap man myself to be honest, dont like most euros and hate seats but i wouldnt mind a spin out of yours
