THERE are infact a number of B1b lancers at fairford along with a couple of B52s and there inflight refueling kc135 tankers.they are due to depart sometime this week.the b1s have been using holbeach bombing range and the b52s have been doing long missions to egypt. so yes the base is very busy. what about you lads that said "im in the know"??? this really shows just how much you know.

PMSL.
I went to school in Woodbridge - a few miles from the twin USAF bases of Bentwaters & Woodbridge. Back in the days when they were crawling with A10s. because of the size of the runway bentwaters used to get all sorts calling in. Including SR71s. One day we were at school and clear as day an SR71 flew over at about 2-3000ft. USAF still denied it was there![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Of course that was pre-internet. otherwise S'Net could also have denied its presences aswell

I forgot to say but when I was walking in to work yesterday I heard then saw a B-1 taking off from Fairford at around 08:55. Not much else around that makes so much noise taking off, with 4 engines on reheat.

Like others have said, I'm in the know on this and what you heard was definately not a B-1 OK !!
Maybe it was one of these - they sound and look very similair and to the un-trained eye/ear it's an easy mistake to make !
