Eating does stop it temporarily. After that it gets worse.
Lemonade will make you look like the grandma that gave the advice

Alcohol is a no-no BTW. (OK, it didn't stop ME, but...)
Seriously, if you have this more often, have it checked. I'll bow out now of the emerging "just suck on a towel" advice that will follow

Omeprazol is what Sandoz sells, Omeprazole is what Merck or Ratiopharm sell. Or Teva... Darn.

Zantac (or any other version of Ranitidine) should work but in the UK the tablets are really low dose, 75mg for the over the counter stuff.
I found 1x75mg not to be enough so I took 2. (In NZ the tablets are 150mg anyway)
A doctor would probably prescribe 300mg twice daily for ulcers.

Seen it, done it, got the T-shirt & saw the up the bum live pics.
Have a read of this (not to freak you out or get you paranoid just for some background info): http://hcd2.bupa.co.uk/fact_sheets/html/Dyspepsia.html
I find drinking Peppermint Tea eases the discomfort especially before going to bed.
Seriously though, it is worth going to your GP if it's that bad & fairly constant. They will probably suggest the test for Helicobacter pylori bug. If this is negative they can prescribe a drug to relieve the symptoms (IMO doesn't cure the cause). I'm on my third different type now. The camera checks only found imflamation of the stomach lining.
My mum (into herbal & natural remedies) is trying to convince me that I may have a food intolerance of some sort - to wheat, gluten, dairy products or whatever. you can apparently have tests done that will determine this for you privately - I'm not yet convinced this is the route I want to go down.
However, the alternative of being on medication of some sort for the rest of my days to combat the symptoms doesn't excite me either.
Judging by the response you've had on here and some of the conversations I've had recently this seems to be quite a common problem, sadly.

(PS it's different size cameras & tubes for each end & I chose to have the down the throat one without sedation and boy it brought more tears to my eyes than the one up the other end did!!!!!!

Worth getting it checked properly, the camera down your throat is not pleasant but bearable.
If it is acid reflux then Pariet stops it completely with no side effects.

Had a similar problem, even a double dose of Nexium wouldn't stop it.
Had the camera's and was all clear.
Then I had a monitor put in my stomach and a wire that came up and out of my nose and then connected to a monitor.
Had to have that on for 24hours, every time i swallowed the wire would pull on my nose, not very nice at all.
Anyway that was all clear.
So then they put me on an exclusion diet, I could just about eat fish, sweat potato, some veg and water. After a few weeks my symtoms dissapeared and after a month I started to re-introduce food groups.
Took about 6 months in total but finaly found out I can't tolerate wheat and diary products.
Cheers

Ask your GP to refer you to a dietician and try an exclusion diet.

After eradicating the Pylori b4stards in me, my stomache was still burning like a fiery pit of hell, so I was referred to some specialist, who basically told me I weigh too much, and that is the problem, told him I am going to the gym, and trying to "beef up" which will make me put on (lean)weight, and he told me it is unhealthy!
Had my liver checked via ultrasound, and it was well within tolerance of fatty tissue (i.e. hardly any), and then had cholestorol checked (which came back at 4.7), so I asked the specialist, how can I be too "fat", and he wasn't too impressed, I then asked how gaining lean weight is bad for you, he couldn't answer!
The cheeky ****** then said, I will see you in 6 months - all he is interested in doing is telling me I am a fat ******, and not solving the problem! I told him he wouldn't be seeing me again as he is wasteing my time, and he has not even bothered looking into what is causing the problem!
I now am trying to learn to put up with the burning - I have had it for 11 years now (doctors only bothered investigating it last year, after I got laryngitis from vomiting 3 times in 1 year!) - still got 6 weeks off work with laryngitis so not all bad

Dietician sorted me out within a month although it took another five months to narrow down the food groups my stomach wouldn't tolerate.
I now avoid the food groups that upset me and I'm fine. Wheat free bread and diary free milk are ****e though.
Cheers
