Looks liek a smoothed version of a Renault Megane. Terrible! The rear is the worst view.

Auto only at the mo with the hybrid set-up.

It's pure concept car and with a bit of public reaction, will no doubt look different, although still complete ****e, when it comes on the market. Plus, we know that maybe MY07.5 or MY08 will again change a few things to try and make it better..... and so the cycle of devaluing cars continues.

This really is to be my last WRX... there's really not much point any more with these muppets!

Like to see it in the flesh, the colour chosen was gross, perhaps chosen to show the shape and design. would look loads better with nice colour scheme. (Blue and nice Gold wheels) wheres Pete Lewis

The looks aside

1) The concept of having a Powerful Hybrid car is good, not sure what the Tree Huggers will make of it

2) Hybred engine maybe an option.

3) What Shape will the M07 Rally car be, B9 or B5 or Impreza

OMG, Someone pinch me, is it April fools day!?!? That is bloomin' awful. If you drove down the street in that people would point and laugh.....and rightly so.

BUT

Maybe this could be the ultimate Q car. It looks ridiculous, but goes like a scalded cat!

The hybrid technology is very interesting - Kudos to Subaru for making moves toward introducing it into the performance end of the market. I do wonder what the cost implications will be though. I also hope that it'd be available if you wanted a manual! Automatic and Subaru just don't sit well together IMHO

Subaru: Producing a model like this will cost you dearly! Even the avid fans on here (myself included) think it's a joke and wouldn't buy it!! Please, please, please give us something that doesn't look daft!

would'nt buy anything looking like that

BUT

as said the hybrid stuff make interesting reading

"Subaru has been developing new Li-on battery technologies and is promising to have those destined for the B9 charge to 95% cpacity within 5 minutes!"

My fookin camcorder takes several hours so I would imagine 95% in 5 minutes to power a car is a long way off yet.

Didn't think there was much Subaru could do to send me over to the dark side................however that creation might just do the trick.

This is there current state of play with the technology, I believe.

- Rapid charging: 15 minutes with AC200V outlet (filling up to 80% of the battery)

- Normal charging: 8 hours with AC100V outlet

- Battery capacity deterioration tolerance: within 20% lower than the initial capacity (after the 7-year use, over 70,000km)

Unhappy

That better be a con job, or some sort of joke.

It's like a cross between a Volvo P1800, (not bad, I agree, but HOW dated?), and a Renault Fuego.

If this is the best that guy who designed all the crappy looking Alfas can come up with, time to sack him and employ someone from the local technical college.

It has to be a wind-up, right?

I actually spotted that car a few days ago on the Subaru Japan website

http://www.fhi.co.jp/english/news/pr.../05_09_28e.pdf

Its a concept car and it doesn't say it's the MY07 "Impreza".

I doubt it'll look anything like that once it goes into production (if it ever does) - just like every other concept car over the years.

I think your right in a way as you said, many don't believe this to be the new "Impreza", just another string to Subaru's Bow Forrester/Legacy/Impreza/B9/B5-tbh. A Vehicle in each class BUT you may find the MY07/08 Rally Car will a B5 and not an Impreza.

They could by then still Rally the Hybrid IMHO. Althought the added wieght penalty of battery and Electric Motor. For rallying would not need to be as durable/heavy replaced rather than recharged at Petrol service. As it's not French Idea they could have troubles with the FIA etc.

IMHO The MY06 Impreza will 3 years and no more, maybe one last last Nip & tuck then it's heart will stop and it will not be revieved

Wink

Sorry but this Car is well past being a Concept car althought the general shape is fairly fixed, they will have room for styling mods and tweeks I reckon in the "Hot hatch" market with feul economy this Car will be a big winner

I would love to see the "Real" Car in the Flesh and maybe not buy the Tree Hugger version I'm probably the only sad git on here to put in print 1'd buy one

Tony

Ps. for all you peeps in Calssic's waiting for a revival of The Old Iconic shape, wake up it just aint going to happen.

I'd have one too Tony and said so on SIDC the other day, not sure if I'd buy one I think that you have to look towards the future and it won't be long before many cars have the dual option. As far as I can see this will be the best of both worlds, speed and economy.

I dont care at all as long as the new evo looks something like its concept car as I would imagine 80%+ of current impreaza owners would favor that. Leaving this peice of **** for green tree huggers with saggy breasts

You must talk to the same people I do - lol

As far as I can translate from the mish-mash of information, the B5 is likely to supercede the Impreza. However, as you say, a timescale of up to 3 years has been mentioned.

To be quite honest, the term 'new Impreza' is being used loosely, very much like the 'new Mini' was. However, we have been told the final production car will not be called an Impreza, but a B5. For the moment, some of the people associated with the B5 are still using 'WRX' and 'STi' to describe the possible model differences - whether that continues is anyones guess.

What is a completely confusing aspect of all this is the fact that the, often vague, written documents are completely different to what has been verbally transmitted by the same people.

My bandwidth has been absolutely murdered with the number of downloads. The opinions are mixed although public comments are mostly negative, whereas those that like the design are keeping it to themselves (probably a good idea knowing the flaming they'll get :P)

Fantastic technology - faster Scooby, better economy - right up my street.

It's just a shame I'm going to have to set up a new company, to create the 'ddd' package ;-). The ‘ddd’ package will shoe-horn this new hybrid engine, gearbox and batteries in to customers existing MY00 -> MY05 cars. Additionally you will also be able to witness the hideous new shell being destroyed in true Top Gear style!

I'm sure I'll make a fortune with the advantage that my MY03 WRX will be the first to receive the ddd treatment.

Let’s see how this one unfolds…..

What Major Motor Company would kill off it's World wide known Iconic Rally Car and then bring out a smaller hatchback version ??

Ford.......... Escort.....to.....Focus Subaru......Impreza.....to B5

Yes I think your right far to much speculation,

The point I was trying to make is, the B5 is NOT a replacement for the Impreza. The B5 isn't going to be marketed for "US" Impreza and EVO lovers. This will be aimed more at the Focus/Golf hot hatch brigade.

I think they Hope "US" will either go for the B5 or up to the 2+2 Tribecar B9

IMHO

Tony

It wasn't broke so why are they tring to fix it? Called into the scooby dealership last week for a touch-up stick. Had a natter with the sales rep who sold me the car in june (WRX300 PPP MY05) and told him how happy I was with the car. My parting comment was 'see you in three years to order the MY08'. Err, nooo.........

Now where was that pic of the evo - I'll have one of them!
