First of all I agree that the ejection for shouting "nonsense", and subsequent arrest using anti terrorist powers was a warning to us all. However it should be remembered that as he was asked to leave, he becomes a tresspasser and you ARE allowed to remove trepassers from your property using force if necessary. Therefore all these calls for the bouncers to be charged with assault won't really fly unless you use the arguement of unreasonable force.
As for the terrorist arrest, I was talking to a policeman friend about this over the weekend, and he told me that there are proposals in hand to change the distinction between "arrestable" and non-arrestable offences, so that basically all offenses become arrestable. An amendment to s.24 for any lawyer types out there. So in future, they wont need to use anti terror legislation, they'll be able to arrest you for anything.

I have to say that the image that will stay with me is of a reporter trying to get a comment from the fat b*stard who was man-handling the old man out of the conference hall.
The Fat f*cker was waddling along one of the halls stuffing his fat f*cking face when a reporter asked:
"Don't you think that was a bit heavy handed- he was an 82 year old man"
Fat thug F*cker replied:
"Nice cake today"

They have been working towards this in sneaky little steps ever since they achieved power if you look at some of the laws and rules which have been put in place. Rather like Jean Monnet's advice on how to get away with federalisation of Europe.
Warrenm2, the worst bit about what you were saying is that fine points of the law are being used over the top of sheer common sense and decent behaviour now.

I find it almost impossible to go about my daily business without noticing (and getting irritated by) all the 'changes' and 'projects' that have happened since they came to power. Watching your own country and society being slowly turned rotten by those who are supposed to be governing it leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

However, it was interrupted by a furious woman from Unison storming onto the podium complaining about being banned from bringing sweets into the conference.

So why dont council's hirer a few "stewards" and use them to remove gyspsies from public land when they set up camp?
And no i didnt think the level of force was reasonable may be if conference had the B*lls to ask TB to leave and then the "Stewards" could help him leave with the same method and we would see if that was appropriate?

Actually, communism didn't happen under Stalin and so we can't strictly say that it didn't work.
Due to the fact that communism wasn't happening Stalin introduced the 5 Year Plans and War Communism as a means of rationalising why the true communist ideals were not achieved at any particular point in time. However, despite deporting 5 million farmers for example, Stalin never achieved control or collectivisation of the rural areas and had a hatred for the peasants that is paralleled in the contempt we see in the Labour government for British rural issues.
I would say that the British government have no illusions about what they can achieve but like Stalin they know that control provides power and power provides more control.
We must remember that Stalin was "elected" in what were hailed as the most free and deomcratic elections ever held and indeed i am sure many communists believed this to be the case. What is interesting to ponder is if it would be possible to get the UK population into a position where free and democratic elections could be held which might only return one possible winner.
