She'll do that without prompting, fortunately. So no chance of swapsies with that for time on the PC!

My connection on the whole was fine...

LOL, I did didn't I. Feel a bit of a Noob though, relying on my grenade launcher too much. Tried a different server later on and got the same dropping out, so I'm thinking it's my problem.

The new pc build is terrific btw - went for a 4400 X2, with 2GB of Corsair 3500LL and an XFX7800 XXX 512 card. Really improves the visuals and the gameplay. Trying not to think about how much I spent to play games though...

LOL - yeah, one map I think I walked into your line of fire too many times last night

Sounds like you got an excellent set-up there, did you apply the AMD fix for the CPU driver to XP? Some people have had issues with the X2s without it in games.

Hmm... must not buy an X2 chip... yet...

The 7800 is an awesome card, I'm so please with mine too, big gain over the standard GTX 256.

I'm probably going to be playing tonight - my wife's at her Xmas do
I'm working late tonight, but will be on around 9pm ish ..

Use http://www.game-monitor.com/ to track me down if you like... search for "SNAFU" in userid.

You'll have to cut & paste it - causes PHP issues otherwise.

Haven't heard about any AMD 'XP' fix for the CPU driver - I've gone legit with XP64 (Happy Christmas Bill!), and apart from needing a new internet security programme and no support from HP for my printer it seems okay...

Can't make it tonight Dr_E, but I'll use game monitor in future, but deffo Sunday (unless the company hoses me down with cash for some overtime)

I never bothered with the hotfix as I dont think I'm suffering any loss of performance. But here's the info:

SYMPTOMS

Computers that are equipped with multiple processors that support processor power management features, such as Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) processor performance states, require Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). Additional updates are available to optimize performance and behavior on computers that are running Windows XP SP2. Without these updates, computers that are equipped with these power management-capable, mobile, dual-core processors may experience decreased performance or unexpected behavior.
RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Windows XP service pack that contains this hotfix.

http://forum.eagames.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=14052

New information on the 1.2 Update:

Hi all,

We are currently working on the next Battlefield 2 update. We believe this update has some significant improvements that everyone will appreciate. We’ve seen the discussions on the forum and will do our best to address as many issues as possible, as soon as possible.

Here is a quick run down of just some of the issues we have been working on.

- Helicopter now carry 8 missiles rather than 14
- TV-Guided missile now have a shorter range
- Hit points on all air vehicles has been reduced
- AA missile lock has been improved
- Support kits have had their primary weapons adjusted for accuracy
- Sniper kits have had their primary weapons adjusted for accuracy
- Anti-Tank kits have had their primary weapons adjusted for accuracy
- "Dolphin Diving" is no longer possible
- Players can no longer jump and shoot at the same time
- "Prone Spamming" is now fixed
- "Sprint exploit" is now fixed
- The Sa80 weapon has been improved
- The G3A3 weapon has been improved
- Reload while sprinting has been enabled
- Chinese and MEC APCs can now shoot through penetrable materials
- Damage decreased for the M134
- Medic defibrillator paddles have been adjusted. They now reload while not in use.

We'll be announcing further additions to this list, but that will have to wait until the next update. This is NOT the complete list of items we are working on. As we have more items go through testing and we are sure of a change we will update you.

For now, cheers.

I think dophin diving is either an illegal sexual practice on sea-based maps or it might be 'prone-jumping'.

Good game last night anyway, I finally got into the swing of things by the time Gulf of Oman came on !!
