As an Unreal Tournament League Admin back in the day - you tick the 'ban i.p.' box just before clicking the 'kick' button

So whats different about the add on pack then? Different characters, maps, scenarios?

Would like to say I delved into the kernel typed a few commands and it was sorted, but I would be talking bollocks! Scoured the internet and it came up trumps. Thank you to some techie and my Windows disc.

All I need to do now is update to SP2 and the other 1500 downloads that Microsoft should have put in in the first place.

Here's hoping for tomorrow night!

Nice re the X850XT... as for BF2 SF do not bother with the download, its a PITA!

Also 8 new levels with the SF expansion pack... Remember to reapply the patch 1.12 after installing SF thou, as SF overwrites the patch with 1.1 on install.

How was this evening? Bought the SF expansion via EA, so as a result of formatting the drive, had to redownload the patch. Only realised this at 7 this evening, so couldn't get on tonight. With a bit of luck, may get on for a couple of rounds of vanilla on Sunday.

And new 7800GT and mobo really rock. Will have to see if I can push them a bit harder, so will be scouring the web for any recommendations!

Blinding.. server was max'd out at 40 players for part of the evening.. but averaged 30 ish... just finished (just one more go syndrome!)..

Actually the first time I've *even* enjoy'd Iron Gator (well, sort of enjoyed it).

Had some good guys on there tonight - and some long lost clan members too!

LOL

Still should be able to pick the original up for 15-20 quid.

BTW,

- install BF2
- install BF2 SF
- install patch v1.12

hope to see you on the battlefield soon!

PS. patch 1.20 is in the pipeline, will post a link when it's released.

About blinkin' time! We'll be on Sunday night most likely or though I'm hoping to get on tonight WP.

BTW, if anyone has or gets an X-fi card, and then has probs in BF2 getting it to work, PM me, I'll forward the FAQ.

PS. You should all check the BF2 page on http://www.tweakguides.com/ anyhow to 'tune' your BF2 instances if you're having probs

It has got a xifi card in it, so I'll let you know if I have any problems getting it running. Fingers crossed

Just in case then... the problem is not being able to enable h/w sound + Ultra quality with out the game crashing to desktop (I think)...

Taken from here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...95#post5806395
The problem is already documented in the Knowledge Base. (I copied it here for you)

If you encounter this problem, we recommend that you reinstall your Sound Blaster X-Fi drivers as follows:

1.

Browse to *:\Audio\Drivers on the X-Fi installation CD (where * is your CD/DVD Rom Drive letter).
2.

Double-click Setup.exe to run the Creative Driver Update Utility.
3.

Under Update Option check the Driver Uninstallation box.
4.

Check the Delete all shared Creative audio driver files box.
5.

Click OK.
6.

Click Yes to the warning that follows.
7.

Click OK to proceed with the uninstallation.
8.

When prompted, click OK to reboot your system.
9.

When your system has rebooted, click Cancel when Windows detects new hardware.
10.

Repeat steps 1 and 2.
11.

Under Update Option check the Driver installation box.
12.

Click OK.
13.

Reboot PC when prompted.
14.

Relaunch Battlefield2.
15. You can now apply Sound Blaster X-Fi settings in the game's audio settings and proceed.

I'm up and running now (I've got the right game )

Got both installed. Just been practicing single player, quite tricky compared to COD 2. What's the patch you mentioned? When I installed special forces it came up saying it was installing a patch (took about 10 mins)

It runs fast on my machine but the graphics are dire! Then again I'm running a graphics card that's not even near the lower part of the reccomended graphics card list and I've only got 512md ddr

Anyone reccomend a good graphics card? 1 gig of RAM enough to upgrade to as well?

BF2, especially SF eats PC's and GFX cards for breakfast. 2 gig of ram is recommended. Like all things PC, buy the fastest/best card you can afford unless you want a 6 month upgrade path

ditto what he said - running 2gb made a massive difference - the game load time reduces a lot - I am normally one of the first in and can get a base before a lot of other people are in

Thanks.

I'm just having a bit of trouble finding what I need to fit my PC.

I had a look in pc world (when I bought the game) yesterday and the RAM was quoting different pin numbers or something. I asked a lad in there and he said you need the model number of the computer and to come in and they'll tell me.

Now, I don't want to buy from PC world but I guess you have to take the RAM in the PC out and look what it is??

Also, same with graphics card?

Couple of questions :

I've just vgot a weapons upgrade; choice of machine gun, sniper gun etc. Now when do i get to use these weapons?? Is it online? If so only in the particular skin i choose i.e. i carnt have a special forces with a sniper rifle can i??

Also , having installed the SF expansion pack, i find that it says to use the 'E' key for climbing the rope - well i already have the 'E' key assigned to something else, i can i buggery find the key in the menu for 'climb rope'??!

Some of the ground defense guns will take out a tank in one hit...
I know what you mean though, sometimes even with 60% health, one hit from another take takes you out.

I find shooting the side of the wheels kills a tank off quicker.

As for APC and troop kills - yep, brilliant

Nah the unlocks are specific to a class. You can use Tier1 BF2 unlocks in BF2 SF, and you can use tier2 SF unlocks (such as the F2000 assault weapon) in BF2.

'e' is enter/exit vehicle and climb rope by default.

AKA "munge"

Good few maps last night, think I was lucky to get on the server, though it took me a few goes. A cracking turn out when I think there have been some nights with only 3 or 4 people all night and it turns into a practice session.

Managed to get a second on the city map (SAS vs Spetznaz) - and only got pipped by the commander of the oppo who gets double

And girlfriend on nights on Tuesday, so party on then...

We're still recruiting people (for SNAFU), only prereq is that you have time and the commitment to play at least once a week - obviously if you're away on holiday for a week we don't expect you to find a internet cafe with BF2 support

If interested, visit our www and express you're interest there...

Anyhow, back on topic... Vanilla BF2 tonight - see you then!
