I went on a few stupid runs, to save team members and the commander and then killed my self in the process. Really could have done with a medic.

The worst thing that happened was when reviving a player, I saved him, and then we both died straight after in an air strike

Have fun tonight boys (and girls). Am working nights tonight and Thursday, seems like ages since I've been on

And then in France on Sunday skiing. So mixed blessing! Perhaps need to get a quick laptop and wireless connection although I think the missus might not be so keen! Get enough grief when I'm at home on the PC!!!!

Definitely agree about the medic thing though - makes a huge difference if there's someone there who keeps bringing you back when you've done something stupid

Even getting shot by your own team.....

Should have had the Benny Hill theme tune playing instead of the normal BF2 stuff last night - absolute mayhem!

I was getting booted from games on my X2 until I applied the fixes, but since then it has been pretty much rock solid.

A friend of mine has had similar problems with getting booted on his normal old pentium system, so I don't think all the connections problems are amd related...

Sure thing, but as I've been playing on the server for a good while now without any problems I doubt it's a CPU bug

I'm more inclined to believe it's because I'm manually updating PB

I had a sinking feeling first attempt playing BF2 on X2, fortunately only had an issue the first two times I fired it up - was fine after that.

I've installed the AMD driver, hotfix and reg edit, one to watch.

Hope you get it sorted mate.

I'm using:

Nforce 6.70
Forceware 82.65 (www.guru3d.com)
AMD driver 1.2.2 (etc - current one from www.amd.com)

Happy hunting mate.

- good to see some of you lot on tonight too!

is it me or has climbing in the rankings really slowed down now?

over christmas, couple of days playing saw me rise 2 or 3 ranks in a matter of 2 days.

since then I'm sturggling to finish the last milimeter of the bar off.

does it effect how many people are playing and how well all the other scores are coming in, as to how much you gain?

This is because when the new patch came out the rankings were re-jigged, so a lot of people found themselves steaming up the ranks pretty quickly and getting 3-4 weapon unlocks with a day or so (the medics G36E is a good one, btw !)
Also I think the ranking servers can be a bit hit and miss sometimes, so even if you're playing on a ranked server, when it uploads the stats info to the main server it doesn't always process the info.

LOL I laughed my head off when I finally got you in that tank!
I was actually a medic, but you'd shot a anti-tank chappy dead in front of me so I picked up his stuff (that new Jackhammer gun rocks a t close range) and luckily for me there were enough rockets left to avenge him

As for my spec, I'm really pleased with how it performs. I'm sure all of you with your uber machines get higer FPS than me but it's really playable.
I've got a Athlon 2500+ o/c'd to 3200+, 2Gb of DDR 400 ram <makes a MASSIVE difference in BF2...no...more...stuttering... and my spanking new X850 XT (o/c'd to PE speeds). So for ~£320 outlay I think this machine will last me another year (unless the overcloked components melt in the mean time )
Just hope Dice don't add any more gfx effects in the next patches though otherwise I'll have to go down to 1024x768

Loads of info on badges, medals, etc.. here: http://ubar.bf2s.com/

For BF2 badges and what the requirements are look at this page:

http://ubar.bf2s.com/badges.php

From that it states - 10 minutes IAR (in a round) in a transport vehicle (driver I would guess).

Transport vehicles: http://www.freelancekillers.com/stra.../transport.htm

PS. of course, if you look hard enough, your clan provides this info

You b******s!

You may note I have heli (whoring) badge too...

Seriously though, I believe it's ten minutes in a round, not 10 minutes constantly without dying.

ps.

Armor 47:01:07
Aviator 00:08:55
Air Defense 05:26:49
Helicopter 06:43:02
Transport 17:57:47
Ground Defense 00:08:33
Totals 77:26:13

Yes I've spent a lot of time in armour (47+ hrs), but also in other stuff, totalling 77+hrs... but I've racked up a total of 143:38:31 (143+ hrs).. so have also spent a fair amount of time as infantry!

PPS. can't wait for the Armour expansion pack in March

Looking forward to the expansion packs as well. Especially at £5.99 each, it would be a crime to refuse!

Indeed... looks like the Euro pack may be delayed slightly, mid-late feb possibly.
