Heaven

Saw a couple of threads about the "original cover" but nothing mentioning this version.
Very sad.

The version of the song without the little girl talking is DJ Sammy - Heaven (Candlelight mix)

thats a very moving song...this is one of my favourtite sad songs, wishing well by free. apparantly paul rodgers wrote it as a plea to paul kossoff who was destroying himself on smack

Take off your hat
kick off your shoes,
I know you ain't going anywhere.
Run 'round the town
singing your blues
I know you ain't going anywhere.

You have always been
a good friend of mine
but you're always saying farewell
and the only time that you are satisfied
is with your feet in the wishing well.

Throw down your gun
you might shoot yourself,
or is that what you are tryin' to do,
put up a fight
you believe to be right
and someday the sun will shine through.

You have always got
something to hide
something you just can't tell
and the only time that you are satisfied
is with your feet in the wishing well.

Oh!
But I know what you're wishing for
Love in a peaceful world
Yeah
Love in a peaceful world
Oh! Yeah
Love in a peaceful world

You have always been
a good friend of mine
but you're always saying farewell
and the only time that you are satisfied
is with your feet in the wishing....well.

Yes
I wish you well
I wish you well
everybody has a wish
everybody has a dream
I wish you well.

how comes when i posted this earlier this year,
as i found a swf clip with This song
(basically it was supposed to be a daughter talking when her dad was killed in the 9/11) with cartoon clips.
it made tears in my eyes.
i wrote "ohhh bless this child"

everyone here slated me for that comment, esp. PSL.

Some of the tracks on the Bladerunner soundtrack by Vangelis such as Memories Of Green will take you deep into melancholic sadness for no apparent reason other than the pure quality of the soundscapes. Brilliant stuff.

John Cale's or Leonard Cohen's versions of the same do it for me.

Got a link?

Did a search for "DJ Sammy", then one for "Heaven" so maybe you didn't mention the artist/song.

Wishing Well -- good choice. Great performance too, you can hear how strung out Kossoff was.

The one that does it for me is Judy Garland singing "Over the Rainbow" on the 'Live in Vegas' album. You can hear the pain .... it's very uncomfortable listening.

I'm not in love - Godley & Cream always seems to get the goose bumps up!

Second Nessun Dorma too, very emotive.

Anyone know what the piano piece at the tail end of Ocean's 11 is? That one seems to get feeling a bit emotional too, and it doesn't even have words!!!

I think it's called Clair De Lune. Can anyone get hold of it so I can listen and weep openly at work, in front of my colleagues?
