ST205 is a Celica GT4

All the cars mentioned are going to be expensive to run. Unless you're loaded it might be an idea to to get something that you can maintain yourself and bin if you get a huge problem with it.

BMW e30 325 Sport springs to mind. Plently about, grunty straight six and RWD!!

The Skylines have a bullet proof engine, although they still need to be kept in good condition like all cars, most engines will provide you with reliablility if you look after it in the right way. same with the RX7, notoriously unreliable, BUT if you look for the right car (i.e something thats had the rebuild already and had the bushes replaced) then you shouldnt have much more probs than any other car, had mine since May and not had a problem with it. changed the oil and spark plugs (£60 for spark plugs and about 3 1/2 hours work to do ) Just the £60odd to fill up to get you 200 miles that hits the pocket the hardest.

Doing well if you find one for 5k and rebuilt, most look about 7k after a rebuild.

As i'm just ever so slightly bias, I would buy a Saab 9000 aero. 225BHP/260 lb/ft as standard, with 300 bhp & 330lb/ft available for very little outlay from reputable tuning companies.

This is quite tempting, what insurance group.

Same mods as my wagon, but I'd worry about intercooler ability on that. What is it, a charge cooler? Sorry to hijack by the way.

with tops of 5k personally i wouldnt go the RX7 rout unless ure willing to play with rotary engines

some cars that i can think of are Skyline R33 GTS-T, Mitsubishi GTO but synchros get shagged very easily as well as other nightmares which seem not to big problems but being a mitsubishi cost a lot to repair, also 300zx but known for turbo failure, so skyline would be my recommendation

unless u want more fun less power then buy ureself a starlet turbo

Fair enough, if you where talking about the s2000, but if you look at the advert, both cars have just gone through there MOT's, which would suggest that they are in decent nic. Audi's are usually solid enough, and I would assume that most examples are looked after, as they where aimed at the more mature driver/Audi-VW ebthusiast.

i wouldn't necesarily say a car thats gone through a mot was good, i'd want a nose around because

1. it could be a dodgy mot
2. MOT dosen't tell you if the engine is gonna blow or the like lol

if ure not put off by small cars......then try a starlet gt or for a few more quid......a glanza.
they weigh about 860kgs and have 133bhp as standard......but are more than happy to run round at 1 bar......which means a few more horses
maybe not as flash as some of the other cars mentioned but lots of fun.......and still pretty rare (especially the glanza)
ive had a few starlet gt's and never had one problem ! ! ! scoobs have been another story for me though

yup synchros are a common screw up on them and are very expensive to sort out. Though on the road they are absolutely monstrous, the noise, the power, the feel. It is a good experience n if ure keeping not for very long then its not a bad idea. for around 4k u can pick up some decent ones, o and DO NOT buy one from Keighley Trade Centre LOL
