Same mods as my wagon, but I'd worry about intercooler ability on that. What is it, a charge cooler? Sorry to hijack by the way.
Sorry I've only just seen this reply I don't know what group it is but I'm 30 and paying about £400 fully comp so it can't be that high,

A charge cooler means that the air is cooled by water rather than air. A charge cooler has a seperate radiator at the front of the car and a seperate pump too and should be more efficient at cooling the air than an Impreza intercooler. I'm still looking into getting a front mount though

No Paul, not gold wheels! They make it look like it's trying to be fast!

We want steel rims with dodgy or missing plastic hubcaps!

As mentioned before 200SX.
£5K gets you a 1999, 50K on the clock, leather, A/C, sideskirts, 200bhp as standard, rear wheel drive, £1000 in mods gets you a reliable 275bhp or you can pick up modded ones for the price of standard.

Dont think you'll get anything as new, fast and reliable for under £5K

Well as you've mentioned the PULSAR, I still own one for over 5 years now, its been pretty reliable accept braking the transfer box, and I love it and give it loads of TLC, but think I should make a comment. Unless your really lucky, it will be a dog for 3k, that will cost you another 3k in a rebuild to get it better. Like cheap Cossies, old scoobs, grales, and any old 4wd turbo car etc, they will require rebuilds soon, and are certainly not cheap to run, to fix, and to fuel. For 5k ish, if you look hard enough, you might come across one with tasty but sensible mods (upgade brakes!) but you still never know.

Owning one is fantastic, they are so different and you'll be surprised how many people don't know what they are still, they are special in their own way, a mad raw 4wd pocket hatch, but they are getting on a bit now, and you should always have a few grand in the bank/credit card just in case it hits you with a problem. So certainly not a car to own on a budget. They also vary big time in their performance, depending on how well set up they are.

Try www.nissansgtir.co.uk and check the buyers guide in there, it has most of the info you need before checking one out. I'll mention this on the other thread you've started...
