farewell scooby ownership for good
#31
I couldn't care less what people think (about anything really)! I've got a Bugeye WRX, and its the best fun I've had for ages. Even puts a bigger smile on my face than the Cerbera ever did!
I've broken it once, but was easy enough to fix without costing loads.
It's paid for .... it's staying .... I love it !
If you don't like 'em, don't drive 'em.

Still nice car.
Still nice car.
But then an NSX is cheaper to maintain than a scooby.
Anyhoo, Funky monk has a CLK55 AMG, which has variable service intervals that IIRC work out at roughly 10000miles. I also think the Subaru dealers labour rates are very similar to Mercedes dealers these days, so that just leaves parts (which geniune Subaru aren't exactly good value for money either). Get rid of the Merc dealers labour rates and you could be laughing, but without running checks side by side. You couldn't catorgorically state which car would be cheaper to maintain, I reckon they'd be about the same give or take £20

An NSX can be cheaper for straight forward servicing, but its in a different league if you need something repaired, oh and have you ever priced a set of rear tyres for an NSX - and yes they don't last very long (neither do those on a CLK!).
Ultimately the CLK is a very different car and one with certain benefits that I can appreciate, BUT, don't ever think an £80k car has running costs similar to a Subaru.
P.S. CLK owner, watch out in that winter weather!

Quirky Looks
Thieves Don't Want Them
They Carry Everything

It's Just Great Beating The Chavs in What They See as an Estate Car
They are the Understated Wolf in Sheeps Clothing ..... keep them standard and you enjoy Impreza Ownership as Subaru intended it to be ..... calm, relaxed, powerful, understated ....................................
The Saloon is Dead, long live the Wagon!!

NSX rears Bridgestone....£100 each...first thing we bought (but the RRP price is stupid...shop about and a bargain thou will find )
Brake pads...£60....same price as genuine Scooby pads IIRC
I could dig out the cambelt invoice if I could be bothered.
Getting the SL and CLK mixed up here I think...a CLK55 AMG is a £60k car (new - or less than £45K used...SL55 AMG are hovering round £80K 2nd hand (£98K new).
I won't care to comment any further on merc vs scooby maintanence costs -only through lack of resources on both main dealers pricing structures. But I'd be quite confident on which uses more fuel though
