Jeez so now Pete knows better than a reputable tuner and a training manual for rebuilding engines????
It's just a shame he doesn't know that turbos are lubricated by oil, not hot air

Zens post?? Yes I have - just because it took him 1minute to get the pressure up under cranking does NOT mean that it would take 1minute when the engine is started .................. thinking such a thing worries me somewhat??

Relevant words here are 'oil' 'turbocharged' 'change' and 'preoil' i.e. crank or pump with a special tool.

i'd be upset if i'd paid £80 for the thing. I got it secondhand (unused weirdly
) off amazon for 20 notes delivered ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
It also said that submersing the oil filter for a few hours was a good idea if you have time... Another anality debunked!

I see ....... now I wonder WHY it was reduced by 75%?? Maybe because its 75% WRONG!?
![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Soak the filter for a few hours ...... HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA I will laugh about that until I die
I wonder how many on here do it??
My neighbour takes 30minutes to leave his house ... he anally checks the door, the windows, the locks, the locks again, the door again (shaking it and shaking it), checks the side gate, checks the door, checks the lock, rattles the windows, shakes the door, on and on and on ...... HE would do the **** Oil Change!!!![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

The issue was whether the **** Oil Procedure needs to be carried out - when the Subaru Main Dealers do NOT carry out a cranking-over of the engine without starting it in some vain attempt to get Oil Pressure up!
![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Just because we own Impreza's does NOT mean we have to pay over-the-odds for stuff like Oil (Quality Oil is Quality Oil)

Thats fine .....................
I've worked on cars for donkeys years .......
Cars are basically the same now as they have always been ... more electronics ... but basically the same.
Certainly Oils have developed in line with the engine development ... but the principles remain constant - regular oil changes are FAR more important than some **** procedure of Oil Change!!
And as for CockLinks and lights to tell you when to change gear ............ words fail me (sometimes!!)![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)

No i dont need a little light to know when to change gear and dont have one.
Must admit i do have a knock sensor which is a feature of the apexi that i had mapped to my car although i never take any notice of it. It does flash ocationally but i dont see that as sign of my engine blowing up so i just ignore it

I have a KnockSensor too!!
It was supplied by Subaru and fitted by them, it talks to the ECU directly within nanoSeconds and the ECU issues commands to the required areas. It feels no need to worry me with lights and stuff .... as by the time I have seen the light, thought about it, chosen some action and carried out that action .... the ECU has reacted at least 100 times!!
So I leave it to the ECU to take care of things for me, while I enjoy driving![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Pete we all know that the Japs can't make electronics. The Bosch is a substantially better sensor, and actually works above 4000rpm. Now this obviously isn't an issue for you, but some of us like to spool our turbos.
