For all the 'Sti are great, UK are crap poster' - the UK turbo is NOT EXACTLY A SLOW CAR is it ? 0-60 between the two on paper there is little difference, add in drivers ability and speed of gearchange and that comes down less, more BHP = higher top speed - true, but how often do you drive flat out in your car ?
Decat and remap a UK car, and the power difference is even less, upgrade the suspension and the handling can be better than some shonky import with a questionable history, less resale value and higher insurance.
OP - if you want a UK car, go for one, I dont think you'll find it slow compared to the MR2 or the FTO.

Whats wrong with Skoda's these days?!
My parents bought an Octavia a few years ago, and it was by far the best car they've owned for reliability, build factor & safety! You need to rethink you argument!
I own a JDM Impreza, but i think its completely unjustified to refer to UK owners as muppets! Theres no need to try and divide the SN community - we all love scoobies at the end of the day!!!

Maybe us UK owners should look down on the Sti import buyers as they 'couldnt afford a decent UK car, and had to buy a cheapo import, and are now trying to justify it by saying its faster' ;0)
And my gran still drives a Fiesta Zetec !

Like the other guys said, I know I'm going to mod. Gonna put a STI V5 rear spoiler on straight away, then a scoobysport exhaust and remap!! Watch that insurance rise!!
