Must have been a hell of a tail wind to get that. My scooby had 275bhp @ 1265kg and got 13.401 @ 104mph. I fail to see how a car with a LOT more weight and only 25bhp extra is going to match that. The p/w/r of these vehicles dictates that the scooby would really hall *** on it from 0-80mph. Also, my scooby was hitting 100mph from dead in 12.5-13s. How can a car that's quoted in most mags as having a 0-100 time of 15s+ match that down the strip?

Take it to crail btw There is talk of me and my mates going in two weeks time or so

LOL @ matt - I could have a boxter or an EVO. I'd much rather have the honda. A boxter is a poor mans 911, nowt special IMHO, common as f*ck and unless you get a boxter S with all the trimmings then you really are buying a half-*** porsche and if you do get an S with all the trimmings the price takes you into the territory of FAR better cars.

As for the evo I'd rather have a scooby and I've done that.

A lot of numbers and figures here - but the S continually amazes me with what it will keep up with.

its does have a good high torque fig, you can access peak torque from 2000-5000rpm

maybe the car has more than 300bhp standard from factory?

once car gets grip, its not wasting power going to the back wheels, cos of the haldex electric coupling thing

Wasnt getting at any car in particular- was just trying to get across that doesnt matter what you drive- there always be someone who stereotypes you when they take offence to your overtake! Disagree with your boxster comments though- id never want one as i dont like any open top cars-but they are as good as it gets for open-top sports cars- Evo mag always rave about them and say there impeccable sports cars. Gets 5 stars as opposed to the s2000 4 stars. Obviously, the s2000 is still a great car but not in a BoxsterS leauge-read any performance mag for confirmation and details!

Have you driven one, and a boxter - or going from motoring journal rubbish?

The handling and steering are better than the scoobs I have owned IMO (handling not to be confused with grip)

Fair comment

I'm not 100% convinced by british magazine reviews of the S2000. Maybe the early ones did have hairy handling but my 2003 is amazing. My only complaint would be its high speed cornering ability when its bumpy (i.e 90mph+), The boxter S probably is a better all round car but its also a LOT more expensive and most reviews I've read say its not worth the extra money.

Have driven an S2000 before , not a Boxster so yes , my opinions of the Boxster do stem from the Performance car mags. I wouldnt say it was "motoring journal rubbish" though as these performance car journalists tend to br real enthusiasts who luckily get to drive some fantastic cars. Every car ive ever owned, i would agree with 99% of there comments on that model. Along wlth everyone else, i have more respect and belief in there comments than some bloke posting a comment on Scoobynet! As for your comment about "handling and steering better than scoobs", -try to stay with the topic-was comparing to a Boxster ,numpty! Also, your last comment "handling not to be confused with grip"- well thanks for that but worked that one out about 16 years ago- just after passing my test at 17. Heres another quote just for you
"grip-not to be confused with traction"

I wasn't being lippy with the grip / handling comment Matt, its a common misinterpretation. Dont lower yourself to giving me abuse if you dont mind.

I pay little / no attention to motoring comment, its normally very biased, and most of the times they are picking holes for something to write IMO. id rather take the word of numbers or petrol heads

Ive driven both, and the Boxter is very nice, but its not £10k better than an S2000.

I would agree with that. I've yet to talk to an S2000 owner that says, 'lovely the car but the handling really scares me and is too snappy'. Everyone I've spoken to says, 'Love it, needs some respect and you have to learn its warning signals' which I agree with 100% The S2000 lets go slowly for the first 25-degrees but then gains massive momentum. If you get to 25 degrees before you realise you're sideways your next thought should be, 'fear not I'll collect this at 360 or 720 degrees' The trick is to feel the subtle tells that she's going to start to hang her *** out and I doubt you'd learn that in a days testing thrashing round a track.
