Right, found the ECU!
Only markings on outside were '6K' and made bu Unisia or something. Opened it up and there were no sighns of a different chip at all. Checked all the writing on all chips and nothing!
I also had another look for the MBC and still couldn't see one!

Hi Dave, sorry about the delay, just been watching the Toon thrash the dirty Mackams!!!!
I thought that the SAFC was a boost controller, not a fuel controller. When I rang AS performance they said that because I had a boost controller it would have used its own boost solinoid, thus the OE part was not connected, thus giving the engine fault codes.
If the SAFC is a fuel controller, then I have codes 44 and 45 that mean something to do with the boost solinoid???????
This gets worse!!!!

Been searching old threads, and it sounds like there is a 6K and a 7K ecu (which is standard) available on V2 and V3 Imprezas. So by the sounds of it, the ECU is standard.
I'm miffed why I can't spot the MBC!!!!!!
I've looked all over where the turbo and actuator is, and still can't see it!!!!

Just spoke to Alyn from AS Performance, cars away getting looked at, might be the shells!
He told me that the standard boost for the v.2 STI is about 1.1bar. My HKS boost gauge might be reading inaccurate?????
Also, when I bought the car I was told it had an HKS fuel defencer fitted to stop fuel cut on overboost. After talking to Alyn I can confirm that I don't think it's fitted with a fuel defencer beacuse under heavy boost, the car violently jerks which I think is the factory ECU setting cutting the fuel!!
He's going to check it out for me anyway!!!! Thank god for ASP!!!!!!

Cool, but i'm pretty sure he's wrong about your standard boost. Anyway forget that, When you get a power fc your fuel cut will be sorted. Saving for one meself. Has he give you any idea what the damage to your wallet will be. Not too bad i hope. You could up ur boost with a MBC and get somone to set ur fueling with the AFC. Not ideal , but I know lots of people who use this method

It depends on the work needed. Anywhere from £950 to £2000 for a full rebuild! Nightmare! Needs to be done though, don't want this happening again!
Just been looking through the file I got with the car, found a receipt for a Dawes Device MBC and a note to Power Engineering asking them to fit it! Don't know if it's fitted though?
I'm thionking of getting a Warlbro 255l fuel pump. If I want to get the PFC, will I still need an SX fuel reg?
Cheers!
