My old WRX, not a ****box either. Wheels were with it when I got it, not my choice. in their defence though, they were split rim and lightweight![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
Im not totally against old cars, I think if I get another Impreza, it will be an older wrx or an sti. Simply for the fact I'm fed up of Imprezas and their depreciation at the moment. My real pet hates are bug eyes, but thats a different thread![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)

Are they ruining Scooby ownership for you? It just seems to me that every other thread is "Hi, newbie just brought[sic] a 93 wrx d'ont[sic] no anything about it, eny 1 no the bhp?"
and i suppose you knew everything about them did you when you first got one
and why the hell would they be ruining ownership for anyone
its there money and their choice.
whether its a 12 year old or brand new, its no longer an "elite club" to be in, which is what most of the long term owners would like to think.
FACT=subarus are getting cheaper by the week
FACT=anybody has the right to buy one
as long as you still enjoy driving yours whats the problem !!

Usually make a solid buy though, given that it's been run on a mixture of Optimax, Monkey **** and extract of Greenfly Nads. You'll find the oil has been changed every 10 miles or 30 minutes, which comes sooner.
4. New Age WRX's in WR Blue with gold wheels. So many of them several owners 'share' them, each thinking it's theirs. 90% of which are driven by new Scoob enthusiasts and glory supporters who two years ago didn't know WTF a Scooby was and still sported the opinion, "that jap foreign muck? Eck no, not beat my Vectra, not in my lifetime sonny"
5. WR1 - bought by the same people who buy £180 trainers and stick them on eBay 5 minutes later, dumbly giggling and muttering "it's only money..." If you didn't manage to order one of these rarities, Subaru UK recommend that as an alternative you withdraw 30k from the bank and make a giant papier-mache **** from it, to which you can attach your head.

This post is a perfect example of one of the reasons I no longer choose to own an Impreza
oh, and whys that? and if you dont own an impreza why do you post on the subaru forums?
sounds to me like your are refering to me as the "riff-raff" you mentioned in your earlier post
lol, if you are i wont take it personally, simply for the reason you have never met me, therefore you cannot judge me.
i am very fanatical about my car, as are the whole family.
and i have attatched a pic just for you

Ladies please! Put your handbags down and re-read the f*cking post! At no point has Bubba stated that all older car owner are charvers, nor that all A-Series vehicles are **** boxes.
For f*ck's sake; I should be surprised that so many people failed to understand a simple post, without any large words in it; but I'm not.....
Simon (60,000 mile 95 WRX that looks like brand new)

I suppose it's not going to affect newage owners so much but as a careful and conscientious classic owner....... I can see my insurance going through the roof![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)

So does that mean I've put your insurance up a bit more? I'm 29 married, 3 children and everything else and I could of bought a newer Classic MY99-but I chose not to go into debt for it and instead paid cash for mine. I've spent alot on it-to get it how I want. It's safe-better brakes etc, fully MOT'd-fully alarmed and insured. Also an import has to pass a SVA test which is much tougher than a MOT.

mines a 95 wrx sti type RA, and it cost me less to insure than it did my old 95 uk model.
insurance companys do as they see fit, and just because subarus are now widely available to all walks of life doesnt mean the premiums are going to go through the roof. !

If you had bothered to read previous posts you'd have read that more than likely in the future I'll be buying another one. The next one will be an older car, but will not be a £2.5k mess of which there are a few around. If you class yourself as riff-raff then that's your concern.

i got about half way through and got bored, im sick of this banter of UK turbos being better cars (around my area and amongst my friends uks are laughed at and poopoo'd as the rubbish cheaper to run cousin) i drive a my93wrx and am proud of my old import its both higher spec'd and faster than its uk counterpart, I have also looked at the relevant uk model of the same year and in general they are in far worse condition than the same year import, i found the original post offensive and snobbish brandin my car a shed it is far from it. i too could of bought a newer model but chose the classic as i think it a nicer car and is the car i spent time dreaming about many years ago.

Christ, is this still going? LOL@ all the indignant owners. Look, if your car isn't a shed and you run it properly then I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT YOU.
Is that clear enough?

Thought I'd just add my 2p worth, being the owner of an MY93 WRX for over 5 years (and 100k miles
)
I can see what point of view this thread was trying to establish - blaming nasty cheep imports (the rubbish that you wouldn't want to poke with a barge pole) for pulling down prices, and allegedly putting up insurance. This wasnt to say that all MY93 WRX's were crap, but that many now being landed were crap.
While I can see the viewpoint that a flood of cheep imports could have been a factor which brought prices down, I think the classic shape (and also to an extent the newer shapes) has been a victim of it's own success.
There seem to be plenty of threads stating 'ooh, I bought a Scoob, but it's too expensive to run/insure, so I've now sold it after 1 week / 1 month / 6 months.' Is this not where part of the problem lies?
Someone is obviously buying all the scoobs at the cheeper end of the market, (otherwise there wouldn't be a reason to carry on importing them) but there also seems to be a flood of later cars on the market (judging by the number of 'I can't sell my car!' threads).
Maybe a lot of the older cars are getting into 'the wrong hands', but I won't be loosing sleep over it.
Around 2 years ago, I thought of changing my WRX for an STi5, but decided to keep it, as I prefer the 4-door, slightly understated look of the 'original' classic - small boot spoiler and all.

Ah... so you have a '95 WRX. That would make it... erm... ten years old. I presume from your indignant response that it isn't tatty either. Why are you replying to this thread?
