And we must not forget Spiral Tribe ... the ring leaders for many a happy day/ night in a field
I used to work on the Tribals in various guises, if not working then guestlist/stage pass etc. They were very 'adult' events Did you go to the first (tiny) one held on the top of the hill by Junc.18 of the M4? That was a classic. In the small side tent was an unknown DJ playing loads of 'piano' (italian) house. I think he said his name was Sasha....

Spiral Tribe were great. Do you remember the Fields Of The Nephilim track they used to play? Does anyone remember what it was called? Someone did a brilliant remix using it recently.

Never when to that one, my first tribal gathering was '93 @ warminster, the last one was Big Love @ otmoor park in oxford.

So many stories like the sasha one, I remember John Digweed when he was collecting empties and playing warm up sets at the Crypt In Hastings & at the early illegal Bedrock parties in 89/90 in Queens Hotel and the pier.
Then there was fabio as a teenager when he got his break at the Genesis parties i think it was, somebody didnt turn up so he called his mate (Grooverider) to bring him some records down and they did their first set.

I left the whole uk scene a bit disgruntled/ disillusioned circa '95. And its only recently (last couple of years) that have got back in touch with people from back then and they got me involved again with events and stuff

Yep, that's when it got all pompous and 'anthemic' and went seriously 'pete tong'

LOL - was time to move on when it stopped being underground and DIY and went all 'corporate'. That's when all the 'Super Clubs' were born (Cream, MOS etc), many of which are still around (not that you would catch me going to one.)

Oh yea, and of course the other thing that happened was that the people stopped being happy. They all started doing cocaine, taking themselves really seriously, and became mega boring... All the fun of acting like a lot of naughty kids in a field together evaporated.

Yep, I was at that one. Got called in at the last minute to find out why the Prodigy's computers (Atari STs) kept crashing. Turned out there wasn't a stable enough power supply on stage so they had to use a DAT tape instead LOL.

Got to meet them in the backstage 'dressing rooms' though, so that was nice.

I seriously detest with vengeance the Trance stuff that came about with Pete Tong and Judge Jules and the superclubs... I can also safely say i never once stepped foot inside MOS, Cream, gatecrasher etc ... Although I did go to gatecrasher at Lotherton hall, the lure of big tops in a field again appealed to me, but was only to be disappointed by it just being a superclub in a tent... I redeemed itself by seeing Liams set which was a refreshing blend of old school hip-hop/ electro/breakbeat/ big-beat

At the anthemic time you mention, that time i was in Holland/ Germany and listening to proper 'Grown Up' Techno festivals and going to loads of free parties over there as well as the organised ones - Love parade, dance valley, Mysteryland, thunderdome etc

Yeah I used to go to the Fubar all the time mate, lost count how many allnighters I went to there. Been to a few Rezerections' as well.
I remember their first outdoor one, The Event I think it was called. Well, I say I remember it lol
My first event was Awesome101 at Marcos Forum, Livingstone, 8 August 1992. Just as Awesome started to go downhill.
http://www.fantazia.org.uk/Scene/orgs/awesome101.htm was hooked from there on in, or at least until 96 or something.

many, many good times were had at these events and loads of happy people became your friend for the next 10 or so hours, not like that anymore.

One of my real favourites was the Streetrave events at Prestwick Airport, ever been?, so surreal having a rave in the departure lounge of an airport

Never when to the Aiport one, but did most of the REZ's .... small world again... as i used to go to college in Livingstone, a place called MOTEC .. is that the same place.

Used to love Fubar, Rez's and all the Tartan Techno .... as you say there were loads of happy people, and you seemed to be friends with people kike they were a life long mate after knowing them for two after minutes after sharing their bottle of water or nicking some chewy off them ... Thanks to everyone who saved me from chewing the inside of my cheeks & Lips off

Motec - do they do specific training for motor technicians there??

I remember doing my LPG training with Vauxhall out that way?

Fubar was nuts at the time, as im sure your aware, what i liked especially was that the bouncers would walk through the chill-out area before the police came through and they would tell you to stop smoking jts etc!! Then when the police were gone it was back to norm.

On a Scottish tip tho, what about Q-Tex, Scott Browns band they had a few good tunes. Along with TRS who sounded quite like them.....and I dont...and I dont....and I dont do coke..!!
iirc Marc Smith had a record shop in Glasgow for a while, i think it was DubII but im not sure. 23rd precinct was the place i always went to.

Rez tho....sneaky eye and Triple XXX, did you ever hear Triple XXX cover that s/o/r tune I mentioned earlier?? Class

Yes, i used to work for Lucas as an auto electrician, they used to send me there on courses for blocks of a couple of months.

Scott brown - now is the time... Classic Tune. I always used to go to 23rd precinct too, I started back in the early 90's with their Limbo Label when i was all techno/tribal & progressive. I bought their first release and every single release from they did for about 2 years.
Havannah - Schtoom What a tune
