We used to have a party every year and we tried to get the biggest / loudest fireworks each year. We used to live in Cruden Bay - Right next to a mile long beach and we'd set off our fireworks.
This particular year we had just finished the preparatory work when a guy came walking up the beach toward us with his German shepherd dog. He asked if we would mind if he stayed and watched.
Rather bemused as his request we said something along the lines "Well we don't mind if you sit and watch but surely your dog wont be too impressed - maybe it would be better if we waited for you & shep to leave".
Oh no said the rather scawny bloke - this fella isn't afraid of a few rockets.
We warned him again that these weren't just ordinary fireworks - No problem came the reply.
OK !
So we set of the first rocket and turned to see if the dog was OK - all we saw was this huge dog running down the beach with his idiot owner trying to stop him from running away !
Pets don't like fireworks - especially if they're (the pet) outside - I can only assume this poor dog had only ever heard fireworks from inside the house and had not been bothered !
Don't bother anymore as they are becoming so "chavvy" apparently - same reason we sold the Impreza

If you are going to a friends there is no point taking a selection box, better to buy a single firework. If everyone turns up with a selection box you'll get bored of them. Bigger is better with fireworks!

Anyway - you're all missing the point of the big fireworks - they're the ones that make the little kids cry then you can see the parents running away with screaming "chardonnay" in one arm and confused "Stella" in the other looking grumpy with "chardonnay" for ruining her night

LOL @ all the bitter and twisted 'fireworks are chav' ban-mongerers! You just can't bear the thought of a family enjoying a tradition in the privacy of their back garden, it chokes you with bile, and long may it do so!
Chavs with fireworks in the street = chav
Chavs = chav
Family display, once per year at bonfire night does not = chav
If you want to get your teeth into a more worthy cause you need to look at controlling the release of non-indigenous predators into our environment. There is wealth of information on that subject that I will be happy to furnish you with.
