Default Injector Change

440 injectors + the Adapters are now out of the car

Changed the injectors this evening, did not take too much time untill i realised i forgot to put a washer in ... so they had to come out and be put in again!

I am one washer short for the injector, will order this from a subaru dealer tommorow.

Not had a chance to look at the error code as yet, will do tommorow.

Talking I think 1/4 of the way to completion

The following mods have now come out of the car:
  • Powerfc + Apexi ECU - has been repalced with the OE ecu
  • Apexi Avcr + the 3 Port soloniod - 2Pot still needs to be connected
  • 440 Injectors + The Adpators - this has been replaced with the OE 380 injectors
I am little confused as to where to connect the 2 pot soloniod, at the moment...?? Have not actually checked, but if i can not find the power connector for this, where will i trace this back to?

Is ther any need to start the car at this stage? (maybe to check the injectors)?? or shall i continue with the following:
  • TD05 - will be replaced with a TD04
  • TSL DownPipe - will be replaced with a OE Catted downpipe
  • TSL Center Section and Backbox - will be replaced with a OE center section. (i have not yet got a back box to replace)
  • H&S Up-pipe - will be replaced with the OE Uppipe
  • Oil catch Can - will be replaced with the original pipes
  • Front Mount Intercooler - will be replaced with the OE top mount intercooler
Expence so far on parts required to put the car back to standard stands at: £126

When the car is fully up and runing as a standard car, i will look at the spreadsheet and see how much all the mods will need to sell for.

There is something so lovely and pure about returning a car to standard!

Am so tempted.

It looks like it should all start. Driving it would be a different issue as its not all back to std.

Looking forward to the spreadsheet, I'd be very interested in the parts as the mods I am planning for mine are exactly what you have done

Default DownPipe Removal

Took me near 2 hours to take the bolts off the Turbo, the one on the bottom was a pain is the A$$!!

Down pipe disconnected from the center section, never taken off a spring loaded bolt before, but after the 1st one went flying i managed to do the 2nd one right...

I can seem to get the downpipe bolt off - the one that holds it to the car...will give TSL a shout in the morning for some pointer...

You need to look around in the loom near where the 2port goes.. follow the MAF wiring.. it should be a round plug iirc..

I presume my email on the pipe fittings made sense? I hadn't realised you were struggling to find the electrical plug

As said once turbo back on it should start, would be worth removing plugs and checking the injectors are not leaking, prime system several times with plugs out and check no fuel leaking.

Shall i take all 4 plugs out and do this? or can i check on one side only?

where will i see the leak, if there is one?

either that or fit a fuel pressure gauge and check it retains pressure for a bit.

you could do all of one plug at a time.. you will see fuel / smell fuel from the plug hole is it is leaking bad.

You could call this over kill and just risk there is no leaks and start it.

Do not have a pressure gauge, so that is out of the question.

What will hapen if i dnt check for the leak and start the car?

Ooooookay then...

Will do this evening i guess..

Plug out, turn only ignition on and off several times, do i have to wait for any time between turning the ignition on and off?

The other question i guess is what if there is a leak?

make sure immobiliser is off.. turn on ignition so you hear pump priming.. pump goes off... ignition off.. ignition on.. pump primes.. pump goes off, ignition off.. etc..

if it is leaking then the rubber seals on the injector that is leaking need inspecting / replaced.

unbolt from the headers..

then lift out.. but you might need to undo engine mounts and jack engine up slightly to allow it to come out.

Are the headers coming off? if so it might drop down easier than up.

Thumbs up 1/2 way to completion

The following mods have now come out of the car and swapped for the standard:
  • Powerfc + Apexi ECU - has been repalced with the OE ecu
  • Apexi Avcr + the 3 Port soloniod - 2Pot still needs to be connected
  • 440 Injectors + The Adpators - this has been replaced with the OE 380 injectors
  • H&S Up-Pipe
  • TD05 Turbo
  • TSL Down-Pipe
I have managed to get the standard up-pipe back in, TD04 is also in.

The downpipe and the Top mount intercooler tommorow will be done tommrow....
I think i am now very close to completion and hopefully be starting the car for the forst time on Sunday evening....

Also have found the plug for the 2pot soloniod

Exclamation Opps...Think i need help

Everything is now in the car....

Only things not connected are the Dump Valve, i can see to find the hose for this...also the downpipe is connected to the center section with one bolt..the other went flying and i cant seem to find it..

So i thought id try to turn the car on and see what happens...please advise if what is happning may be caused to the two things not done above:

The car took about 20seconds to start, it kept turning and turning..now it starts first time, which i guess was the fuel getting through the injectors..

It sounds very rough, and i am see allot of steam / smoke comming from near the uppipe, and up and out by the turbo...could this be condensation? after letting the car run for near 2mins, the whole garage looked white..if i press the trottle gently the car hessitates...

Do i need to reset the ECU?

Also the car is idling at 500rpm, there is plently of blackish smoke from the exhaust....

HELP....

Default Sorted that Prob

I connected atemport hose from the DV to the intercooler and the car now seems fine..everything behind the car is now black..opps..

No more smoke from the exhaust or the engine (think this was just steam)

The car is still ideling at 600rpm..though not lumpy..any thougts on this?

Oil catch can was also removed, and i was actually quite suppried on how much oil there is in there... catch cans do work...

Will put these on the car this evening, drive the car little forward and get into the ditch under and try to find the bolt that i lost for the joining of the center section to the downpipe...

Will i need an ECU reset..if yes, how will i do this?

Also i believe that my check engine light has gone....
