That seems to be the truth of the matter for some current owners and is based purely on their experiences with the cars.

Do not concern yourself i used to have a blobeye and got pissed off with some people on SN who slagged off a car that i enjoyed.
I now have a WR1 and that too is now slagged off! although out of this site it is generally reckoned to be very good but the anoraks will say too expensive, not enough power, you may as add PPP to a new sti and so on.
In short enjoy the car and ignore the anoraks!!!!!!!

Define "scooby hater"?
Is it hatred of the car? Hatred of the owners mentality? What it represents? The image?
Why do you think this came about? Could it just because the car is just not as good as the hype made it out to be?
Certainly, in many respects I would consider many characteristics of the Impreza as flaws or bad points. I will happily point that out and make clear that the car I own and drive everyday has plenty of failings. So no jelousy about it at all, if anything modesty as I will happily accept the shortcommings of the Impreza regardless of which particular model it is (and there is plenty of them
).
However, many people do not. They'll either be ignorant to it, ignore it or somehow make you think it is a "good!!??!" thing, when it isn't. That, my people is the mindset of a closed minded enthusiast. Because they own it and poured all their money in, they refuse to accept that the car they own and drive is not the fastest car out there, that in reality, the handling dynamics are rather poor and the whole driving experience when compared to other cars is, well, dissapointing. Perhaps it is just pride clouding judgement?
Point being the Impreza is nothing special, be it handling, brakes, reliability etc. The only thing that made it stand out was the aceleration and (to some people) the looks. But even nowadays that is something that can be easily questioned. Hyping the car up to be somthing that it clearly is not, be it by the owner or press will not make it any better. Only fool people into buying one and realising for themselves that it is not completely what it has cracked up to be.
The only thing it is, is a cheap, fast, viable substitute for a Mondeo. And at £14699 (from Virgin cars) for a new pre-reg WRX, you can't complain. Except for the UK car buyers who paid the UK RRP, who can't even claim for their car to be cheap either.
But start thinking and claiming that the car is anything more than that is, then you are asking for people to tell you otherwise
