Anybody who used to be in the modding scene back in 1998 around Whitley Bay (Newcastle) should have heard of my XR2!!!! It was red with Mk1 graphics, spat flames out every gear change and was fast as ****!!!!!! Torque steer was massive!!!!

Anybody from around my neck of the woods remember it??????

I'm 26 and this is in order.

1) Nova - Crap nothing else to say.
2) MK3 Astra gls - Crap company car but I was 18 so at the time it was ok.
3) MK4 Astra Sri - Was a the best vauxhall I'd driven by the age of 20 was still crap tho and I only had it for 3 months before I gave it back and got my own car again.
4) Peugeot 306 XSI - Not quite a Gti-6 but handles as well as one. I was 20 still tho and with no no claims insurance was tough.
4b) R5 GTT - Won't do corners but was a hoot in a straight line when water pipes weren't bursting.
4b2) MK2 Supra - Was an suto but was quite fun in the wet. Not really quick tho.
5) Mk3 Astra - 1.8 was crap but had a minor cash flow problem.
6) 1.9 205 Gti - The best car I'd owned or driven, not the quickest but still great.
7) 1.1 Micra - Just got a place with the better half so just run 1 car for a while whist cash was rebuilt.
8) 306 Cab - Well looks great but I don't think it should be wearing the 306 badge. Nailed together and sloppy to drive.
9) Current car 1.6 205 Gti - Got some change from the cab for a new engine so a 1.6 on carbs with a few other tricks is being built at the moment. At the moment its just a almost standard 1.6 205 Gti but again a great car great to drive and I got a mint one too

1983 Lancia Beta Trevi (8/10) Still the best handling car I've driven.
1971 Mini 1275 (5/10) Not impressed.
1980 Datsun Skyline (3/10) It had a steering box for God's sake.
1983 VW Golf 1.1 (6/10) Wide wheels make 'em grip!!
1982 Audi Coupe C (8/10) 1.9 litre got 40mpg on a trip to France - with carbs!
1983 Audi Coupe GT (6/10) Rolled it. Ooops.
1986 Audi Coupe quattro (8/10) Tuned to the hilt, great handling.
1988 Porsche 944S (5/10) cost me a FORTUNE, only ran right for 1 day.
1995 Impreza WRX (9/10) Would be a 10 if it weren't for those darn Teins and tinfoil doors...

1991 205 1.9 GTi - great fun, got it after rolling my Dads weekend project-car 205 1.9 GTi!!

1992 205 1.6 GTi - big let down after the 1.9's, didnt feel that quick.

1991 205 1.9 GTi Turbo Technics - expected quick - but this was quicker! no fun in the wet however with wheelspin in almost every gear.

Just thought to add my car ownership history:
1st car I've ever owned (18 at the time) was a Renault 5 Gordini Turbo,
kept for almost 7 years and modified in more than 1 stages. Engine blown twice (ringlads gone 1st, then bottom end/conrods). It did however manage to push 237bhp @ the wheels for almost 2 years. Huge fun, wheelspin is all 5 gears on the wet, the perfect giant killer on the dry...
2nd car (bought as a 2nd car while the Renault was modified and wasn't practical for day to day use) VW golf MK2 GTi 16v. Good/reliable and fun. Sold to a mate, that crashed it 2 months later....Sadly missed ever since.
3rd Mk2 Mr2 turbo, bought almost std, kept for 2 years, modified to 285bhp @ wheels, used on track on every available oportunity. Quick, fun and reliable. Sold to buy my current STi type R.
4th Fiat Punto GT. Bought as a second car when the MR2 became too uncompromising as a day to day car. Still got it and run it every day. Good performance and civilised.
Impreza STi Type R V6,drove a mates on Elvington for 5 laps and I just had to have one... almost std at the moment (4 months into ownership), used as a weekend car.

Nick I was 17 and passed my test that year but can't remember seeing your Fiesta. I used to hang round the sefront in those days too - but not until I got my own car 1998 - was a red mini - black and white chequred roof, gold minilights, twin webber carbs, straight throught exhaust, Nova SR interior. So low it wouldn't go over speed bumps - handled like it was on rails!

Then i got a 1.3 Escort Eclipse - in that manky red colour - big sound sytem - car was nicked and stripped before being chased and written off.

Fiat Cinqucento sporting - KnN, chipped, twin exhaust, lowered

Clio 1.2 new shape, KnN, had several huge exhausts (letterbox, Oval then 5" round jap style!) tints, etc

Scooby - last of the sports specials Cashmere yellow, Recaro's, powerflow exhaust, induction kit, etc

When i'm 25(insurance) - proper scooby with turbo
