GaryK shares the same film tastes as I do I second Near Dark and Manhunter, the latter being one of the best movies I've ever seen.
Dark City is worth a viewing - very much like the Matrix, but directed by the bloke behind The Crow, and stars Kiefer Sutherland, amongst others... including Jennifer Connelly
There used to be a good show on BBC2 for cult movies - was where I first saw American Werewolf In London, Repo Man and Assault on Precinct 13.

Havent seen these fairly well known few mentioned yet:
A clockwork orange
Fear and Loathing in las vegas
Trainspotting
Caligula
Boondock saints
Sleepy Hollow
Le grande bleu
Brotherhood of the wolf
Old men in new cars
In china they eat dogs
Battle Royale
Brother (actualy all of Takeshi Kitano's movies ).
And one i've never seen or found in the stores is Cool hand Luke with Paul Newman, met a few people from different sides of society claiming this to be their all time fav movie, wonder where they got it from though....
And The Big Lebowski is also one of my favs
I know more, but can't come up with the titles atm .
