Thumbs down

Are you going to try and turn this into another contentious subject alcazar?
Let it go....
Now would I do that?

Let's have a modicum of respect, uh?.........
I HAVE respect, MASSIVE respect for anyone who fought/fights for theitr country. What I haven't respect for are the pr*cks who swan about with medals they never earned (the royals), and the MP's and government who pay lip service to respect, while ignoring the fact that over a MILLION of these guys are on the bread line

As a British person I was very proud when watching the events on the TV yesterday (as I do every year) and always wear my poppy with pride.

I was especially proud while watching the documentary with Prince Charles before the march past where he highlighted the very significant, brave contribution and lives given by soldiers from all over the Empire/Commonwealth. (My family would be included in this)

I wish to stick to the tone of the original post but I do feel it is a shame that these people would today be classed by some as merely "immigrants/asylum seekers/foreigners".

Detractors, please note.

Nah............when they're fighting for us, they're not immigrants etc

Seriously...........fair point.

Just out of interest, have you visited any of the ethnic war cemeteries? I've been to an Indian one and a Chinese one on the western Front near Lille. Very moving.

LOL.

I haven't unfortunately, but my Wife and I have agreed that we will visit sites that interest us from the Wars. This would include all type of cemetary of course. I am sure the American and British ones at Normandy are probably the largest.

The Wife has actually visited Arlington Cemetary and the Holocaust Memorial in Washington, both of which had her in tears I believe.

We certainly won't forget.
